Is it just me or…
Summary
QB/OL: All signs before the season pointed to SC being more competitive, at minimum, in these games than they have in the past.
All signs before the season pointed to SC being more competitive, at minimum, in these games than they have in the past. Talented, B10 caliber roster. Returning, upperclassman under center. Seasoned, proven leader calling plays on defense (and of course millions invested in admin and institutional support). For me, it was easy to be optimistic. What did we see on Saturday? Talented roster, playing undisciplined FB (I'm talking the RTP penalty specifically) - direct reflection of coaching. Quarterback plays well, but confused at times, especially when clock was an issue - direct reflection of coaching. Defense design that was woefully prepared for Oregon's (stoppable) running game and their backup QB - direct reflection of coaching. Silver lining to me is that the pieces/personnel are there, even if the coaches and system are not. Fear is that by replacing the latter, we'll have to start over with the former. Hope I'm wrong, because LR does not appear to be the guy.
