Especially against teams with outsized talent compared to Iowa, they will let you rack up yards between the 20s. Then they will bog everything down and make your QB throw a perfect pass between the LB and safety. If your QB is patient and takes what the offense gives him, congrats, you'll probably win the game. But college QBs aren't usually built like that. So Iowa will be patient, you'll wear down, you'll make a mistake, and you'll be in a low scoring dog fight for 60 mins. Norm had the formula and Phil has only perfected it. It's ugly, but it's beautiful.
