Reason #7 why Lincoln Riley should be fired: his play-calling and feel for the game. Does anyone else feel like Lincoln Riley just does not feel the game well? How many games have we watched USC lose in the fourth quarter because the offense playcalling The Oregon game is exactly what I’m talking about. The run game in the second half was starting to dominate. We were moving them, wearing them down, and finally starting to impose our will. Then we go down 7, face a little adversity, and what happens? Three straight dud plays. Then we go for it on fourth down, don’t get it, and the game is basically over. Why are we getting away from what is working? Make Oregon stop the run. Keep pounding it until they prove they can. Instead, Riley gets away from the flow of the game and starts trying to manufacture something instead of sticking with what is right in front of him. I have seen USC under Lincoln Riley lose games in all sorts of different ways. Michigan, Oregon, Tulane, Minnesota — different games, different situations, same result. At this point, it feels like he invents new ways to lose.
