Had a HC career that was D2, FCS, and G5 (only 4 years at JMU) before getting the IU job. No one was looking to hire him as a B1G/SEC level coach. His "I win. Google me" was exactly right. Style of play, geographic location, age...none of that really matters. A coach who wins is a coach who wins. When you look at Cignetti, you see that everywhere he went, he also took over programs that had fallen off for years. He immediately turned them around. There are several coaches on the list from the OP that have these kinds of indicators (Eck being the one who stands out the most). Places like FSU and USC aren't hiring someone like Eck because of pedigree issues. They want splashy names.
