They don't track strictly missed tackles, but they do track depth of first tackle attempt, depth of actual tackle, yards after tackle attempt and solo tackle percentage. Mizzou is above average in all of those. The one place they are below average is in stop percentage (I'm trying to find a good definition of that on their site and failing, my guess is it means the percentage of the time the first tackle is successful in preventing additional yardage, but that could be wrong). Anyway, as a team, Mizzou is at 25% stop percentage and national average is 35. So that backs up that they're missing a lot of tackles even if they end up making the second tackle quicker than most other teams do, which leads to the overall good numbers. My interpretation is they're getting there in a hurry, the first guy is just failing to make the play on a pretty regular basis.
