Initial injury report released for TCU vs. No. 10 BYU
Summary
Injury: The initial injury report for TCU's game this Saturday against No.
The initial injury report for TCU's game this Saturday against No. 10 BYU was released late Wednesday night. Another update will be released on Thursday night and more updates will continue to come 90 minutes before kickoff.
The good news for the Frogs is starting linebacker Max Carroll is not listed anywhere on the list. Carroll was injured early in the first quarter in the Frogs' loss to UCF last week. Carroll is fourth on the team with 16 tackles.
Backup offensive lineman Ryan Hughes is also not listed on the report. Last week he was listed as probable to play against UCF before ultimately being listed as out just a day before the game. Hughes will provide depth at a struggling position on the offensive line.
The other good news is Perry Cole Jr. being listed as questionable. Cole has practiced this week and if he's able to play, will provide depth to a defensive line that could use all the help it can get against a tough BYU running game.
Defensive end Zach Chapman is listed as questionable as well. Chapman has practiced this week according to sources and is slowly beginning to get more reps with team. TCU coach Sonny Dykes said earlier this week during his weekly presser that he anticipates Chapman to play. Chapman has not played this season.
The Frogs did take a couple of hits on both sides of the ball for the game against the Cougars. On offense, the Frogs will be without reserve running back Joe Pitchford. Pitchford contributes in multiple offensive schemes and special teams. He has one rushing touchdown on the season. With Pitchford out, TCU could rely on true freshman Amante Martin to get some carries on offense. On defense, backup linebacker Michael Short is also listed as out. Short was injured in the game last week to UCF. Short is third on the team with 17 tackles.
Kicker Kyle Lemmermann continues to be listed as out. In Lemmermann's absence, Nate McCashland has handled kicking duties. Last week McCashland was 2-of-3 on field goal attempts.
