The Badgers' 3 seasons of football this year
Summary
Pick/market: The 12-game schedule seems to have been constructed in 3 parts with 4 games each: Season 1: The extremes.
The 12-game schedule seems to have been constructed in 3 parts with 4 games each:
Season 1: The extremes. We had that opener vs. ND (now #3), and finished @PSU, both obviouslly tough games. In between? Hostess Cupcakes. We easily won this phase, going 3-1, with Coach Fickel's Signature Win, at last.
Season 2: This is something of a gauntlet, with Pat Fitzgerald's MSU, @#23 UCLA, #18 USC, @#14 Iowa. Honestly, a 2-2 split wouldn't be the worst outcome with that lineup.
Season 3: It would be disappointing (understatement) if we did not sweep Rutgers, @Maryland, @Purdue, Minnesota.
We've already almost matched last year's record in just the first 4 weeks. I think we're on track for a 9-3 or 10-2 season, and even 11-1 is not out of the question. Does anyone really fear the USC team that beat Rutgers by 7 points? Let's see how UCLA does @#15 Oregon before we take their 4-0 record (vs. Cal, San Diego State, Purdue, Maryland) too seriously. @Iowa is going to be the biggest test of Season 2.
This could be a really great season for us, folks. It's certainly looking better than we've had for the past few years.
GO BADGERS!
