G6 Playoff System?
Summary
NIL litigation incoming: boosters suing for underperformance, player injuries, suspensions complicate contracts.
We have already seen schools suing players for breach of contract - the latest is Cincinnati suing Sorsby. Just wait until some super fan, car dealership owner in Florida, sues the athletic department and player(s) because the 10 million he gave to the roster walked out the door after one season, or the team/player doesn't perform to expectation. Soon, we will see stuff like, "Your starting QB is sponsored by..." "Your offensive line is brought to you by your local Catepillar Dealer." What about this scenario? Player gets big NIL money, comes to the school, and then gets suspended/in legal trouble? The pressure on the AD and coach to suspend or maybe even dismiss the player. What if the player gets hurt and he's brought in for 2 million dollars?
