DeBoer added Wednesday night during his "Hey Coach" radio show that James is "working through it. He was out there on the football field a little bit. But we'll kind of see. We still got a few more days. It's what we expected, the progress that he was making. He's still questionable at this time."
DeBoer said left guard William Sanders, who also left last Saturday's game, is practicing this week.
Alabama will update the report Thursday and Friday evenings before issuing a final report at 9:30 a.m. CT before the 11 a.m. CT kickoff in Starkville.
