Mailbag: Answering Your Post-Spring Questions
Summary
Brady Jones gets starting nod tomorrow; OLine biggest concern with no push against DLine; DLine/defense potential unclear.
My deep dive article will be running first thing in the morning, but since it is more of a two decade look at spring practice, I felt that I'd be better off answering all of your questions that you posted here instead. So...here goes, starting with our favorite...JUMPDRIVE jumpdrive Hi Angie, thanks you for allowing us this opportunity. 1–If the first game was tomorrow, who would be your Q B to start? I am going to base this more off of what I've heard from those who have seen all the practices, not what we saw yesterday at the Spring Game. If first game was tomorrow, I think Brady Jones gets the nod. 2–Do you (or anyone) believe our O line will be ready, if not why? Are they as good as some of our O lines in the past? The OLine is my number one concern and I didn't see anything yesterday that made me feel any better about it. They had no push and struggled against the DLine, which is my second biggest concern of the team. 3–Is the D line and the defense itself show you something that might get us excited? Can they be GOOD ? As I mentioned in the above, offensive line is my biggest concern with the team, but the defensive line is my second biggest concern. Takari Hickle is good, but he isn't unblockable like the current offensive line is making him look. That being said, the linebackers are going to be very good. They look bigger and are very athletic. I think we see the unit have some swagger this season. 4—Can we have a S T that is a LOT better than the last couple of years, and do you believe we have a F G kicker that can win games for us? Honestly, I don't think it is possible for the Special Team to be anything but better this year. 2025 may have produced THE WORST special teams I have ever seen at any level. Yesterday we saw the field goal kickers struggle a bit on the long shots, but Coach Shep told us that throughout camp they had been making them under pressure. Time will tell, but they should be improved this year. Thank you for your time and effort for this.😄😄👍
