The last 5 years have led to record applications (right at 60k) and the acceptance rate has fallen. I was a student during the height of VT football success, and the acceptance rate was in the 70s, but it’s now down in the mid 50s. I completely agree that football will definitely help increase kids wanting to go here, it’s always a major plus to have competitive athletics, but the reality is VT has been growing rapidly over the last decade anyway.
