Keeps the players rested and can force opposing offenses to get confused as they face... show more they also can get to the sideline within a drive and get those little tips and coaching, learn how to communicate and pass on information to teammates during the game. young players don't realize how much they learn the nuances faster by not being in every play and getting to watch reps/plays in a game and then get in and execute it for themselves. if you're always out there and doing something wrong and they can't take you out you just don't get the depth of coaching in-game that young players really need.
