My understanding is that there’s a clearinghouse which evaluates NIL deals with the intent of ensuring that the businesses involved are acting in the interest of the business rather than in the interest of the athletic department. I also recognize that the two aren’t mutually exclusive. My hunch is that this has more to do with supporting Husky Football than the bottom line of the dealership. To be clear, I’m not saying that I have a problem with that. I’m simply saying what I believe is likely to be true and that I think it’s an interesting agreement to analyze as the NCAA creates a process by which the legitimacy of NIL deals are evaluated.
