And while I know many will point out the water use in the desert and when I hear that I always like to remind everyone that we have acres of grass on the mall and all over campus that we water regularly. Adding one football field is a drop in the bucket. Real grass is also cooling. The moisture retained by the turf cools the soil and the evaporation from the grass cools the air above it.
