Bo at AU
Summary
Bo likely catalyst for Auburn's strength research facility, not holdout; program predated his arrival under Dye.
Frem Okay. It would seem strange, though, that a leading edge national center would be created at Auburn University, as an extension of what was already happening here, and that athletes be required to work with them, and yet there a still be a program that somehow managed to not be involved? It started when Dye came, NSRC. That would mean he told Auburn thanks but no thanks, I'm not interested in stronger players? The new kid in town with the flagship program in his hands and he is gonna turn his nose up at something his employer was vested in that would improve the performance of the program he's paid to lead? I'm more of the opinion that he was the catalyst for it, not the righteous hold out. May be that your info is from a later time, the official project only lasted a couple of years. After that we knew enough to not have to keep paying to run a research facility, everybody did pretty soon, it was academic, they published their results. And it only went underground in 86. It wasn't prohibited or tested for until then.
