We've had the conversation that I'm just a tad older than you. I did get to see Gibby play football. He was a weapon, and the fastest guy on the field in any game he played. He deserves any kudos the Tigers or MSU can bestow.
He was fast in the 40, but he had what you call Football Speed or Game Speed. There is that one play that shows everything you need to know. Interception, looks like a clear TD the other way, but he sets sail from 30 yards wide, takes the right angle and drags the guy down at about the 10. Caught him after being probably 40 yards behind. No other player is catching him, but Gibby got him. And we held for a FG on that drive. You never got to see his blinding speed as a Tiger, because he'd already had injuries and wasn't as fast. But in college? He was the size and build of a LB with the speed of an elite WR. So once he got the ball in the secondary he was a problem for DB's to bring down.
