Clark's Clipboard 2/27/26: CJ Bailey, WRs stepping up, pass rushers and more from spring camp
Summary
CJB needs development step forward. WR room criticism valid. O-line concerns on 2J. D-line development uncertain without Wiles. LB jury out on Coach Suge.
tau2006 said... (original post) You are the type of person who expects to see zero growth or improvement year over year from young players. Thats fine and you can expect it to be ... show more I don’t rule out development. I trust CJB will take a step forward and the reality is we absolutely need him to. Joker has had a lot of criticism on his development of the WR room. I’m not going to touch that one but I’ll say I can relate to some of the criticism. Our RB’s seem to develop fairly well. O-line is a question mark for me. I’m simply not sold on 2J. Look at the development of ACJ under three years of 2J. Val Erickson is another example. Tim McKay had two years with him. Then there are guys like Belton and Peak who developed pretty well. With Wiles, we’ve had some great development on the D-line. Even before Wiles we were consistent in that position group. With Wiles shifting to admin, I’m a bit concerned on how that group will develop, especially without any bonafide talent like we’ve had in recent years (Vann, Cleveland, Clark, etc.). LB is similar to DL in that we’ve had great position coaches with Hux and Gibson. The jury is still out on Coach Suge. I liked DeForest as our safeties coach. I’m not sold on the new staff. Our spending on the defensive side has been “economical” recently. From the staff to the players. We need for guys to develop and improve. Absolutely hoping for the best in this regard.
