Ron Brown talking about Tommie
Summary
1984 offense scored quickly, limited D rest time. Frost elite at pure option reads, poor passer.

The 1984 Blackshirts led the nation in total defense & ... show more One reason the D was so bad (stat wise) was they were on the field so much. The O scored quickly and often giving the D very little "blow" time. The O was incredible. Back to the best option QB for a moment, when a TRUE option play called (no pass read) there was no one better than Frost. He always had the proper spacing between him and the RB and he was making the read on the defender, when that read meant run he took off, when that read meant pitch, he would pitch, often w/o even looking at the RB because of that spacing. Pure option - great, passing - sucked.
