So Sims, a QB who transferred to us because he was no longer the starter was going to stick around as the backup...but Thompson, who felt he would be passed up as a starter, should have been expected to transfer?
The solution, with hindsight, was no Sims. At the time, Sims was a good option with high risk/high reward. There were also better options, but Nebraska was also coming off of 5 straight losing seasons. There are a lot of players who likely just were not an option
