Your questions, answered: Which position group improved the most?
Summary
TE unit (Hansen, Beers, Van Dorselaer) vastly improved over last year; Mateer could be Top 2 SEC QB by season end.
I'd have to agree on the TE unit being the most improved, at least to the naked eye. The top 3 at that position (Hansen, Beers and Van Dorselaer) are light years ahead of anyone at that position last year. Not to bash Kanak - who battled hard on every snap, was a great team player and knew what to do once he got the ball in his hands - but he jumped to the top of the TE depth chart after only one off-season in the role for a reason. They just weren't very good there last year. I would agree that Chambliss should be the top choice at QB in the SEC among returning starters, but there are several (Mateer included) that you could throw into a hat and draw out for the #2 guy. Reed and Stockton had good seasons last year, but need to prove that level of play for multiple seasons for me to be fully convinced. Sellers and Manning were up and down (as was J Mateer) in 2025. So, as Brody points out...if all goes according to plan (and what in life really does?) then Mateer could end the year as one of the top two QBs in the entire conference at the end of the season! SG
