Defensive line standouts emerging in spring practice
Summary
Spring coachspeak unreliable; DL underperformed despite hype (Keeler, Kromah injuries, Badmus limited). Need cornerback reinforcements, receiver with vertical speed.
It’s been four spring practices so I would take everything as just coachspeak at this point. As for the DL, they underperformed last season after Keeler talked them up. Kromah missed several games, Badmus didn’t play much and did guys like Poteat (and Kromah) receive another year of eligibility? I would think this years DL should be able to match last year even with all the new faces (but they really do need more production for the defense to improve overall). I think cornerback is the biggest question on the team at this point and hopefully we see another transfer or two brought in at some point before the season starts. As far as receiver, I hope there is a player or two with deep speed that can get stretch the field on a regular basis (a major issue last year).
