Arthur gets a lot of criticism for issues at Temple that similarly plague nearly every member of the American, such as attendance, scheduling, and NIL fundraising. And then nobody mentions his name in connection with the recent $500K donation. That's not an endorsement, it's just a fact. Who was responsible for bringing in that donation? Some say Keeler. Some say Peter Clarke. I'm sure multiple people deserve credit. So I think Arthur's future is 100 percent tied to football's success or failure.
I hear what you're saying about new energy, and there's something to be said about a more public face, though I don't think that's ever been the case with Temple's AD job since Theokas. The President has always been the key factor driving Temple athletics -- either forward or sideways -- going all the way back to Paul Anderson in the late-60s. And remember, in life, you never really know if your next wife is going to be worse than your last wife. Well, I know the answer to that question, but I'm not going to share it here.
Broadly speaking, in 35+ years covering the Owls, I've only opined publicly about the job status of one coach or AD. That was Ron Dickerson, and that was because they let him stay after he had literally quit on the team. I don't expect circumstances will arise that will lead me to fully opine on someone else until after I retire in the mid-to-late-2030s. But I can help frame both sides of the argument.
