Part of an $80 million renovation?
Summary
Rose Bowl needs billions in renovation, not millions; seismic engineering, construction costs massive.
still over an order of magnitude too little. It'll cost BILLIONs in today's money to properly renovate and update the Rose Bowl. Nissan Stadium, built 30 years ago, will need nearly $2b to be renovated-- and that doesn't take into account higher construction costs and seismic engineering like the Rose Bowl will need. Beaver stadium has undergone a dozen renovations since 1960-- the most recent on going on right now is $700m. SoFi itself was built for $6b. I don't get why people think that throwing a few sprinkles of money at the Rose Bowl is going to solve the issue. If the people of Pasadena WANT the Rose Bowl, then they need to pay for it-- billions. The local taxpayer is usually who is responsible for upkeep. Forcing UCLA to remain an tenant to justify the pittance they're throwing at the RB for renovation is an obscene take.
