It goes both ways. Multi-year contracts can hurt the team. When I heard Chad Bowden speak a few months ago, he said there was only one USC player that entered the portal that USC wanted to keep. If you’re trying to improve your roster via the portal or signing incoming freshmen, but you can’t jettison dead weight, it could be a problem.
