Five biggest lessons from spring camp, No. 1: Spencer Danielson took real accountability for last season
Summary
BSU lost 5 games because of QB play, not just drops; QB plan lacks injury backup for Madsen

I've been as critical as anyone in the media of Maddux, but moving on from Maddux would have been a massive g... show more It sounds like you have held SD more accountable for the QB situation than SD is holding himself, which makes it even more confusing why -- in an article patting SD on the back for holding himself accountable -- him not doing so when it comes to QB isn't even mentioned. All due respect to some of the other posts, BSU didn't lose 5 games last season because of WR drops. Of course the drops contributed to losses, as did poor tackling and other factors, but clearly the total ballooned to an unacceptable 5 primarily because of the QB play, especially when Madsen was injured. And speaking of gambles, the biggest gamble of all is this Grand Plan at QB this season consisting of doing nothing except for prayers of "let's hope Madsen doesn't get injured again even though he missed parts of five games last season". Have they even promised that when -- er, if -- Madsen gets injured this season they have a backup ready so they won't just stare at the football for 3 downs then punt, like they did against SDSU? Agreed, if Madsen stays healthy 11-2 is on the table. "Good chance" is debatable, since a 1 or 2 loss season is more accurately the ceiling, not the default, especially since the good chance requires perfect health from a QB with a history of injury.
