Summary
Top Actionable Intel - Oklahoma came out of spring without new major injury news beyond previously discussed longer-term issues for Taylor Heim, Jacob Curry, and Daniel Akinkumi. - The hosts think Oklahoma has top-10/playoff-level talent, but said the first five games are pivotal and a 4-1 start feels important. - John Mateer remains the biggest national storyline: the hosts saw good spring moments, but still need proof that he can elevate both his own play and the offense around him. - No official wager, spread pick, or total play was released. Spring Standouts / Position Notes - WR Mackenzie Alene was the biggest spring riser. He came in as a low-expectation Washington State transfer familiar with Ben Arbuckle's offense and Mateer, then made plays throughout spring and scored in the spring game. - Alene is not being framed as the new WR1, but the hosts think he can give Oklahoma real receiver depth and a reliable rotational option after two seasons where depth/injuries hurt the offense. - C Jake Maikkula was praised for his offseason and body rebuild after losing significant weight during last year's infection. Brent Venables was cited as saying Maikkula had one of the team's best offseasons. - Maikkula's year-two jump matters because the center-QB relationship with Mateer is central to the offense, and the hosts think he has the upside to be Oklahoma's best center since Creed Humphrey. - DT Nigel Smith was called a pivotal defensive-line development. Oklahoma lost Gracen Halton, Dominic Williams, and Marcus Strong from the interior rotation, so Smith proving he can play meaningful snaps is important. - DT Trent Wilson was also grouped with Smith as a young interior defender who showed he can be counted on for depth. - LB James Nesta's spring should not be overshadowed by Owen Heinecke's return. The hosts think Nesta has transformed physically, understands the defense better, and can still play even if Heinecke starts. - S O'Marion Robinson was highlighted as an important retained player after portal whispers. He gives Oklahoma playable safety depth behind Peyton Bowen and Michael Boganowski and should contribute on defense and special teams. - RB Xavier Robinson was mentioned as a reliable spring riser who may not be the fastest or biggest back, but could be trusted if forced into a starting role. Team / Depth-Chart Notes - Offensive line is viewed as one of Oklahoma's biggest upside points; if it reaches its ceiling, the hosts think it can be one of the better lines in the SEC. - Wide receiver questions center on whether transfers and young players can support Mateer: Alene, Isaiah Sategna, Trail Harris, and others were discussed as part of that depth build. - Defensive depth is the key question beyond the starting 11. The hosts like the first group but want to see who becomes the next wave behind them. - Danny Okoye was mentioned as a high-upside edge who needs to become more consistent on normal downs, not just create occasional splash plays. Market Relevance - Moderate for Oklahoma season outlook. The useful betting angles are Mateer's development, OL ceiling, whether WR depth is real, and whether defensive-line/linebacker depth survives SEC rotation demands. - Low immediate market-mover value because this was a spring recap, not injury-breaking news or a released pick.

Turn the conditions apply. This I think that we were all kind of wondering if Ormace and Thomas was gonna fit in himself into the end of the first round on Thursday night. But all in all, pretty good Thursday night. Yes, pretty good. I need to look up the draft order. I might call my shot here and say where he's gonna get. Okay, you know, with Trey Hendricks and gone, I think the Bengals have a pretty early draft pick in the second round on Friday night. I think they're like fifth? Are they fifth overall? No, they're 41st, so that would be... Nine, two, three. Yeah, ninth. Okay. Bengals would be good. I'm gonna say... Who did the Ravens take in the first round? Offensive alignment from Penn State. Maybe the Ravens at 45 put him opposite of the new acquisition of Trey Hendrickson, right? Yeah, I just feel like he'd be a good fit there. Ravens at 45, Bengals at 41 would make sense. There's a little bit of charger talk, wasn't there? I don't think he'll get passed 60. Okay. That's my guess. Okay. Deon Burks, possibly on Friday as well. Second third? Yeah, I think he'll go third round. I could see him being, you know, let's look at round three here. I could see him being a good fit. Eagles already took a receiver. It's probably not there. Falcons maybe, something like that. Yeah. You know, Green Bay could use a receiver there in the third round. So this is a handful of teams. Grayson Halton, I think he good, spouting... Maybe slides in on a Friday night as well. I think he's gonna go. I think he's down. And then, you know, he's playing at the draft. He's playing at the draft. He's one of the 320,000 people that were at... Insane. Wherever they're at, I don't even know where they're at. It's right outside of... Well, I guess it's not Heinz Field, whatever they renamed this. Okay. It's right outside the football stadium. He was out there. And before the first pick was announced, before Fernando Mendoza was taken, he put up a video on Instagram. He's just yelling, Jared, get it! Jared, get it! Jared, get it! And everybody's got a look at it. It was a great video. Jared put on his Instagram last night. We'll see if Jared hears his name called at some point this weekend. Would be super cool if that was to be the case. Yeah, I think Broncos are a team to watch with him. I've mentioned them a couple times. Kansas City Chiefs, L.A. Rams. Those are kind of the teams. Again, offensive, natured head coaches. I think they have a creative mind of, wow, they're just like, you know, they're just like, you know, they're just like, you know, they're just like, you know, they're just like, you don't mind how they could use Jared. It would be cool if he was selected. All right, we're going to get into a couple of names here. I guess five names really. That were kind of standouts coming out of the spring. Obviously Oklahoma rapid-up spring football earlier this week. On Tuesday, Wednesday, I don't even really know what they were going to do. I know that Brenda talked about situational stuff. Don't think that there was a whole lot that went into the practices to close out Oklahoma spring portion. No, and everybody's still healthy. As we said, other than the guys that we've mentioned before, Taylor Hime obviously, Jacob Curry, Daniel Akinkumi. I think that's about it in terms of serious long term stuff. So it sounds like everything's good. They wrapped up on Wednesday and now they head into the summer. Everybody else should be available somewhat ready by the time they start summer workouts coming up on June. We'll talk a little bit about off-season storylines for Oklahoma as we get into the back end of this program. But certainly want to highlight some guys that you wrote about. You can read that on sudarscoup.com. Five guys that really kind of stood out in front of everybody else. There's a long list of guys that you could go through but we tried to sitter it down to five. Before we do that, why don't we open these up and tell you about our good friends over at Cheers. Listen, it's that type of the year we got playoff mode, has been activated. I was at the game on Wednesday night and certainly when I got home before I went to bed, I took a couple of the Cheers pills because I wanted to wake up feeling much, much better in the boarding and that's what they're there for. Get us a clean table as we get into a little bit more of a spring football cleanup review. What have you. But you know, I think that there's probably no better place to start than the wide receiver position and the name that we have talked about. It seems like ad nauseam here throughout the back end of the spring and it was because he was making plays almost every day. You saw him in the spring game, make some plays as well. He's going to touch down from John Materre. Mackenzie Alene. Yeah, a guy that again we've talked about was kind of an afterthought when they added him in the transfer portal. Oh, he was just kind of looking for bodies and they found a guy in Mackenzie Alene that was familiar with the offense, having played for Ben Arbuckle and with John Materre, his freshman year at Washington State, didn't play much. And then obviously last year, played a little bit, played most in the bowl game and had a really breakout performance in the bowl game. Comes to Oklahoma, very little expectations. And he's out there making plays like this every single day. In practice, I think he did a lot for himself. With guys being out, you kind of wonder, okay, well, who's going to step up? I don't think he was on your radar then either. And all of a sudden he was arguably their best wide receiver throughout spring practice. That doesn't mean Isaiah Satania isn't the guy, you know, or whatever, or even Trail Harris or working on this. We're talking about building up the wide receiver position that certainly needs some more bodies out there to be able to jump up and play. Yeah, and look, if he can give you a couple hundred yards receiving next year and come in and just be a reliable guy that can play a few snaps for you, then you'll take that. Because over the last couple seasons, you really haven't had that. Like you haven't had that depth. You've played three or four guys. You dealt with a ton of injuries in 2024 and a bunch of young players that weren't ready to play. Last year, you really had one go-to guy, then he had Dion Burke's who was a good player. And then after that, it was, you know, who knows? Sure. You know, Jared Canick was one of their best receivers playing tight end. So I think having a guy like McKinsey and for him to kind of open the door to be like, I deserve an opportunity to get on the field. I think he kind of proved that this spring. He improved himself, I think more than anything he talked about it. And then one of the post practice, you know, sessions that we did with him here, I think it was about two weeks ago talking about, you know, he had a lot to kind of prove coming in from Washington state and not to mention, he is still young, rather young, rather a Red shirt sophomore going into the season. Yeah, his only third season playing coach football. And like I said, I didn't play really, I don't think he played any. His true freshman year, and then obviously as a Red shirt freshman last year, didn't play most of the season and then came in and had a breakout performance in the bowl game. So the potato bowl, because Utah State, three receptions, 63 yards, had a 41 yard touchdown in a game that if I remember correctly, we were watching here. Yeah, and I think it was back and forth because it was an afternoon game if I remember correctly. Yeah. And he had the connection, you know, he talked about this and we said it on a former show too. But for those who don't know, his connection wasn't as much material in our buckles. It was Stacy Ford, sure, who identified him as somebody like, Hey, this guy can come in and help. And, you know, I don't think Oklahoma paid a lot for him to come come here, but he certainly, you know, showed some value so far made a name for himself. We'll see if he's really in that, you know, consideration, I guess, going into next season. You're going to get trail Harris back here during the summer months. And obviously we'll kind of talk about his relationship with John material and the chemistry that needs to be built now on the field. Now he's starting to get to a point where he can get out there over the course of the off season months. Secondary guy, not secondary because he's not on the secondaries on the first area, I guess he's a starter coming back from last year. Jake Michael, another name that, you know, I think certainly looked physically, kind of completely changed his body from at least what we remember from a year ago going through the infection at the end of the year that cost him what the last three games. Yeah, and I think it was Bob Przvilla who put out the photo side by side comparison of Jake before the Alabama game in the most of all playoff and what he looked like, he had lost, you know, 20, 30 pounds. He looked light and obviously didn't play in that game. I think it was kind of a break glass in case of emergency because of his infection. And now you look at. Some of these clips from spring ball clearly put that way back on. Britt Venwell said he's had one of the best off seasons of anybody. I feel like we don't talk enough about him because he's a solid player last year from Oklahoma, but his ceiling is extremely high. I think this is a guy that can play at the next level. He's going to get drafted. If he continues to put that weight on, build that strength up. I think he's only going to get better. He's got great size already, but I think he looked really good. If he comes along on an offensive line with a bunch of young guys and a lot of talent, I just feel like he could be a really, really pivotal piece next year. I think everybody knows how important the center position is. You talk to John Materre after the spring game about his relationship with Jake, and it continues to grow. John Materre talking about the relationship with paint manning and Jeff Saturday, obviously, but a very important piece for Bill Beatenbo moving into the off season. Especially when you look at maybe what they don't have behind him. I know that Noah Bass had a really good spring. Talking about the backup center position. Caleb Nita had been relatively limited during the spring. It's going to be interesting to see how they developed behind him. But, Jake Michael, when you're talking about a starting center, that unit, it looks really, really good. Look, I think he's the best center, has the potential to be the best center since Creed Humphrey at Oklahoma. You look at the best offensive lines over the last decade or so for Oklahoma. They've had really good sense, whether it was a guy like Creed or Gabe Ikerd or John Cooper going back all those years. So, that's a really, really pivotal position. I think Jake has that potential. He certainly has the athleticism, the size to do it. I think he needs to continue to build his strength. Then obviously, knowing the offense, I think being in year two, we forget and brought it up. We forget that he didn't get to campus last year until the middle of June. This year, having a full off season, I think he started 10 games last year for Oklahoma at center, having that under his belt, I think is only going to help him. He's certainly somebody that I think, again, you don't often talk about some of the offense line, other than Michael Fissusi, but he's somebody that it sounds like had one of the best spring practices of anybody. Let's stay in the trenches somewhat like a McKinsey Alene that took advantage of an opportunity because there may be some other guys that were ahead of them weren't on the field this spring. A guy that we feel like we talked about almost every day after practice that we would go out there, Nigel Smith really made a name for himself this spring. I think this was a position that, look, wide receiver, we talked about McKinsey stepping up and you love to see that, but they got guys at wide receiver. You feel good about offensive line. You like Jake Michael coming along, but you feel good about that five and all that. The defensive tackle, Remedy, I think it was pivotal for Nigel to do what he did this spring to show that he can be a part of this rotation because what made Oklahoma's defense so good last year was how good they were up front. They had so many guys. They had no drop off whether it was Dominic Williams out there and Grayson Halton or David Stone and Jayden Jackson, even a Marcus Strong who come in at certain points. They had no drop off on that interior defensive tackle spot and you lose Marcus Strong to the portal. You lose Grayson Halton. I think it's going to get drafted tonight. Dominic Williams who might get drafted over the next couple of days as well. It's like, okay, you love David Stone. You love Jayden Jackson. Who's next up? We've heard Nigel's name over the last year since he's made the move from offensive into defensive tackle as somebody that's making some strides. I think this spring he showed, hey, I can play and I can be a good player for you. So not only is he going to be a rotational guy, I think he's the guy that we could look and be like, man, he's having a really good year. Like he's having a strong season. So I thought it was pivotal that he stepped up and it sounds like he did. And he played really well in the spring game as well. He was one of those fans coming out of it, making a couple of plays, especially early in the game it seems. And you know, you can only pick five. I only picked five players for this. I mean, I guess I could pick Talver, I mean, I wanted, yeah, I would throw Trent Wilson into almost the same category as Nigel Smith. He's another guy that I think showed this spring. Hey, you can count on me. I can be reliable. Again, how good will he be in just his second year and never playing really in the SEC, right? He was on the team last year, but didn't really play. I don't know what that looks like for him. And especially being only his second year is Nigel Smith entering his third or fourth year now. It would be his third year up third year. Yeah, because he was with David Stone and Jane Jackson, who's in that same class. So his third year, I, you know, for Trent, though, I wonder what does that look like, but certainly still a guy that I think could end up playing a hundred snaps for you at defensive tackle, which is what I'll call him and eat. This is what everyone's talking about. Every page on the table. This is what champions come to take. This is what everyone came to see. No do overs, no second chances, no more Mr. Nice Guy. This is winner take ball. The NBA finals continue on ABC and the ESPN app. I finished a 5k in 94th place. Right after a man wearing jeans, they still give me a medal. I don't want a reward for doing. I want a reward for dominating like daily prize match or on bet 365. I play for free and win real rewards like up to $5,000 in cash weekly. Unlike that Joker and denim, bet 365 winning is everything. Dammit problem. 1-800 gamblers. 21 plus only must be physically present in Michigan. She's in C supply. Both those guys talked about too, just the opportunity that they do was in front of them and they certainly it feels like kind of attacked it somewhat for sure. They're in a position to be legitimate depth pieces going into 2026 on a defense that you feel is pretty good. You feel better about it now that you have Owen Heineke in the rotation or getting back into the rotation with the injunction hearing and everything that comes with that. But another linebacker that certainly showed promise this spring, James Nesta. Yeah, and I didn't want to, with Heineke coming back that's been what everybody's talked about, right? We've talked about it at Nauseam. I didn't want that to overshadow his return, overshadow how good James Nesta was this spring. And I think it's important to know that while James Nesta snaps, Mike go down now that Heineke's back, I do think he's going to get on the field. I think he's going to be a contributor. You see him in some of these clips. When we were out there, he was making a lot of plays. It seemed like he was, like, he's kind of transformed his body, just knowing what he looked like from a baseball perspective. He's huge. I mean, you look at him running through these drills. He is a, he is what you want at your mic or even a will linebacker spot. Certainly has put on some weight. And I think, you know, I don't want to say that quitting baseball was the right move for him. But I do think focusing just on football might have been the right move. I think, I mean, it just the way he looks, I think that it's helped him being able to focus on one sport, his body, obviously, your body's different playing baseball versus football, especially at that middle linebacker spot. But I think the biggest thing for James is it's really clicking, you know, mentally understanding what they're asking him to do. I think he has really good linebacker instincts. But I think he also is really smart and picking up the defense. So while Owen being back is huge, he's your starter going into next year. Don't be surprised at all James Nesta's getting on the field. And we saw it. Oklahoma plays multiple linebackers. We saw Kobe McKinsey and Sammy Omozigo and Kip Lewis and Owen Heineken. Kindled in, I was like all five of those guys played a lot of football last year for Oklahoma. I anticipate James Nesta kind of being in that same group. And I would say, you know, perhaps a James Nesta development, a Marcus James development that certainly he probably was right on that tier of like you could throw him in there. We just didn't really see a whole lot because he's still wearing the loo jersey. Does that allow you or do you have a little bit more of a trust within the linebacker core that you can move somebody like a cool soul of an out and play a little bit more cheetah? Yeah, definitely. And that's why I think it's important for Nesta because I think they were going to do even if they didn't get Heineke. I think there was going to be scenarios where it was James Nesta on the field with Kip Lewis, who was a soul of. And so now having Nesta who I think can play Mike or Will for you, like he can give you some real depth there and a guy that you can rely on to come in and play be physical, be smart, be fast, like all of those things that you want from a linebacker in Brent Van Wills' defense. He just allows you to be more versatile. Speaking of the cheetah position, we talked a lot about Jeremiah Nuke, another guy in the secondary that really seems like he's coming out of the spring with the light officially coming on. I'm Marion Robinson. Yeah, and he's a guy, you know, it's funny going back to when the transfer portal opened. He was a guy we kind of circled as could he into the portal. Yeah, they're the world whispers. Yeah, because it was one of those things where, you know, you got Peyton Bowenback, Michael Boginowski, everybody's penciling in to be the other the other starting safety next to Peyton Bowen. And you didn't know what was going to happen with a guy like Jayden Hardy who played a lot of snaps for you last year in a backup role was a key special team player. Marcus Wimberly was hurt all of last year. And then Hardy enters the portal. Wimberly enters the portal. And it was like, well, man, oh, you needs to keep O'Merry and Robinson. They wanted to. They didn't want to lose him. And I ended up working out. Definitely one of those when you talk about the retention that Oklahoma has done really well over the last couple of years. He was in that mix. He might have been like, if you're listing him one A1B, something like that. Certainly. I think he's in that group because you look at it's paid off for both sides now because you look at him when he looks great physically. This is from him last year. But if you play the tape of him this spring, he looks great out there. And look, he's playing. It's funny. We're watching this. He was playing in some big moments last year. He didn't play a ton of snaps overall, but played in some moments, played in some big games down the stretch. It's worked out though for him and for Oklahoma because for Oklahoma's sake, he can play either spot. He can play behind Peyton Bowen or Michael Bowgenowski for one of those guys. He got hurt if you want to rotate, which we again, we saw a lot of that last year. And then from O'Marian's perspective, which looked at him, he looks like he's put on some weight from a year ago. I think so. But from O'Marian's perspective, he's going to get on the field a lot more this year. He's going to play a pivotal role playing safety, playing some special teams. I think you could play three. I'm going to put him on the list, maybe looking back on it. There was a lot of guys, Danny Ecolya. I don't think he doesn't count. We talked about him at Nasive. I know that we talked about him on the U.S. official 40 this week and just like a loose comparison from a measurable standpoint to somebody like a bike of Parsons that obviously started Penn State now with the Green Bay Packers. But he almost kind of made a name for himself just in terms of it feels like he's made that name. Now it's about taking that next step. Can you be like an all-SCC type performer? Can you be consistent? Sure. Because seeing glimpses, he's really good in certain situations and he's made plays here and there and we saw it this spring. But can he ever single down? That's one thing that I don't know if we appreciated enough about Armace and Thomas was, he was great in certain moments. He was the closer and he would come up and make a play that you remember forever. But it was those other downs that he was really good. Sure. He was just solid. You knew what you were going to get from. Kind of like Ethan Downs was a couple years ago. And even a PJ last year, like he didn't always make the flashy play but he was super consistent and that's what you need from Danny. You can't just be the flashy play guy. He's got to be the guy that on second and five he holds the edge and forces a third and five. Right? Like that's the key for Danny Aqualea. So certainly somebody that I thought about putting on there. Another one, Eddie Pierluis just because I think that we've seen him, you know, he was another guy that when he first got to Oklahoma didn't come into the summer. Sure. You know, we didn't see much. We wanted to see more of him. His freshman year. We didn't know. We didn't know. We didn't know. We didn't know. We didn't know. We didn't know. We didn't know. We didn't know. We didn't know. We didn't know. We didn't know. We didn't know. We didn't know. We didn't know. We didn't know. Hmm. Oh gosh, now that loy chocolate Commission isn't in nine five five. So you know well. What what what what would your chickens see him they and then last years, throw itoug into the fire, had some good moments. Had some bad moments. I think this was a big spring for him. I thank you took a step. I think he's become a Nicole leader in that room which is really important with the group that's got some young talent and I think that fundamentally technically it guy that again maybe wasn't as much as as an afterthought as McKenzie was because they went after Lloyd pretty quickly in the portal and also I think we all said at the beginning like hey this guy's gonna get on the field maybe it's not a huge role he's not your number one back I think he showed this spring like hey maybe he's not your starter but you would feel comfortable if he was like if he was the starting running back for a few games next year I don't think you'd be like man like oh you doesn't have anybody back there like I think he can help you I think he's you know an experienced guy sure he hasn't played in the SEC and that's gonna be a level up for him but I think he showed the coaching staff hey I'm reliable I'm consistent he may not be the fastest or the biggest guy that they've got but you know what you're gonna get from every single down and if Oklahoma can move bodies up front then I think he's gonna hit the hole study and play come together on a Windows 11 PC and for a limited time college students get the best of both worlds get the Unreal College deal everything you need to study and play with select Windows 11 PCs eligible students get a year of Microsoft 365 premium and a year of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate with a custom color Xbox wireless controller learn more at windows.com slash student offer law supplies last ends June 30th turns at aka.ms slash college PC how about the night that dealer mccollum had last night at the at the draft with Jeremiah love obviously going number three overall and then you had Gdarian price stiff it into the back end of the first round yeah to when's the last time a call to met to running back skill in the first round that would be never really yes okay that's what I was well I don't know about to go into the first round but the first two running backs being selected from the same team I believe that was a NFL first yeah and it was Jeremiah love who's Adrian Peterson was taken what 8th overall something like that yeah yeah I mean when who was the last three to go top five top running back to the top five Jeremiah love me put me on the spot I don't know I think it's been a while and it's been a while well what's the then Raiders last year oh gente you're right Ashton Jen and his Eagle Elliott went top 10 I think yeah yeah I was anyways it was you know kind of crazy to see him go so early and then Gdarian price like you said sneaking in the background pretty good a recruiting tool for Dila McColl I would imagine that will be mentioned a couple times all that on the recruiting trail as the coaches head out Brent mentioned that Plitty of recruiting coverage to come here in the coming weeks and a lot of spring football being taken up here in the high school ranks who would you say Carrie oh sake one Barkley yeah that's a good one I just know there's not completely dispelling George's I know I was like I remember when eight I remember when Adrian went top 10 it was like a big deal that we're running back would go top line every but is the yellow Elliott was fourth is what Kerry said and you know I think Leonard for that another one did it have as good of a career I remember having a big discussion with Leonard for that Joe mixed and I remember going at it with LSU fans on running backs in the first round is somewhat of a rare occurrence so to have to have two of them from the same school I just that's crazy to me see two and a half million dollars guaranteed for Mr Jeremiah love it's not bad not really know what the Arizona Cardinals are doing thank God the colors out of there but we shall see where that goes alright the NFL draft coming up obviously tonight second and third round let's talk off season storylines what is like the biggest question do they have the biggest question going into the off season or is it basically kind of status quo everybody stays healthy get it to August well I think it's John Mater I mean I think obviously yeah you want to stay healthy but from a national perspective it's gonna be John Mater and and has he improved and I don't think we have that question answered this spring certainly there is moments that you're like many looks good out there you like what he's saying about fundamentals and mechanics and all that stuff but I think it's a Ken John Mater elevate his game and elevate those around sure and can those around him elevate him you know vice versa because I think that's one thing that nationally people are gonna be like well John Mater has to be better so does everybody else around him the offensive line I think is a huge storyline you know for this offense and this team like can they be as good as we think they can be can they hit their ceiling because if they do I think they're one of the better offensive lines in the SEC and in college football and I think that's gonna be huge can they run the ball I think that that's another big storyline we talked a lot about you know wide receiver are the transfer is gonna step up is a part of Livingston gonna be a game changer is trail Harris gonna be a possession receiver that helps you and Isaiah satania continue to do what he can do and then I think on the defensive side Eddie it's all about depth I think you love what you see out there when you throw 11 starters like man that's a salty group you got a lot of returners you got a lot of experience a lot of athletic bodies you feel good about safety and corner and linebacker and edge and defensive tackle but when they rotate guys who's coming in can somebody step up who's that guy in their third or fourth year that takes that Taylor Wine type leap is it a Danny a coy is it you know PJ in the light maybe finally coming on for him own Heineke being back and what can he do in a year two in this defense I I think those are the storylines of can guy step up defensively in terms of the backups and having you know that 22 deep roster that Britain wants and then on the flip side on offense can John material improve and those around him it's gonna be kind of somewhat interesting you know I think the next time that we'll probably talk to brendevetibles is when you're down in Florida for the yeah well then the caravan I just enter caravan I stand corrected I forgot which would care caravan had returned it's coming up in about a week and a half yeah May 3rd May 4th up like that in Oklahoma City Tulsa I think has a stop and then there's two others I can't remember was there one down a lot and carry lot and Dallas lot and Dallas very good we'll hear from them then you'll talk to them down in Florida at the the coaches convention or whatever they call it spring meetings yep and then before you know we'll be out in Tampa Bay for SEC media day coming up in the middle of July or I guess the end of July July 20th I believe is the date that Oklahoma is on but all in all you walk out of spring like we've talked about on the instant reaction or on the unofficial 40 this week it seems relatively this things in pretty good shape going into something of an offseason yeah and you just got to go prove it now right and I think this offseason still you know huge and you know there's certain guys that need to continue to put weight on or lose weight or whatever you know I think that the summer is always a really pivotal time I think those guys that have been hurt that sat out spring this is a big you know big summer for them even a David Stone and Jay Jackson getting healthy and you know continuing to work out be with the team do all the extra stuff it's a big big summer for them and then obviously fall camp you just hope everybody stays healthy then too but it should be I mean look I think Oklahoma is one of the more interesting teams in the country it feels like going into next year they should be a top 10 team they sure make it back to the college football playoff I think there's some people nationally that maybe don't believe that obviously the over-under win total at seven and a half Vegas doesn't think Oklahoma's a playoff team but You can also make a statement the wrong way. I think Oklahoma is one of the most interesting teams. I think they've got the talent to be a top 10 team. I also could see them having struggles early in the year. We know how seasons can go. You lose a couple games. Things can fall apart quickly. I think that the first five games are pivotal. I think getting a four in one is almost pretty critical. It feels pretty imperative to get out of the gates in a good manner going into 2026. We might talk about it over the next three or four months before the season begins. That's going to do it for a Friday edition of a practice report here on the suitorscoup.com YouTube channel. Everybody stay safe out there. That was crazy last night with that tornado and eat it. My wife's family is from Egypt. Luckily, they were way on the other side of town. But certainly a lot of damage out there. Lucky that that tornado didn't go through the city of the United States. We're talking about three miles from absolute care. It would have been destructive. It already was destructive. A lot of people lost their homes. It's incredible that the lives were lost in that on Thursday night. Thoughts and prayers for sure though. I know they're still doing a lot of recovery out there. There's more storms expected this weekend. Busy, weekend day out. Here in Norman, Boppersville will be over at Lovesfield where they're taking on Georgia in the three game sets starting on Friday. Schedule change coming up on Sunday with that game being I believe moved up 30 minutes to be a national television party as they head into their final weekend at Lovesfield. A&M next weekend down the college station. SCC tournament. Yeah sitting on the team record and then obviously Kindle Well sitting on the solo recorder to the individual record for home runs in a regular season. Oh you baseball down in Auburn on the plane starting at Friday night at six o'clock those games on the SCC plus going into what should be a really interesting final month of the season for them really kind of in the middle of the pack there five way tie in for fourth in the SCC standings. We'll recap all that maybe a little bit of a diamond sport review or diamond report coming up next week. Hoops report next week as we kind of transition away from the football side of things here on the suitorscoup.com YouTube channel until then we will see you next time. Our yoga instructor challenged us to find inner peace. I found it faster than anyone. After four seconds I stood up and screamed I found her fauna I win. They asked me to leave. Show notes: With Oklahoma football's spring practices now finished, Eddie and George take a look back at five players who we weren't talking that much about going into spring practice that we are talking about a lot more now that the spring game is behind us. Most of these players are guys who haven't had that major impact yet, but we could see them playing much bigger roles this season. * Take Cheers Restore after your last drink or before going to bed and wake up feeling at least 50% better — or your money back.
