Summary
Top Betting/Intel Takeaways
- The main Clemson takeaway is talent-versus-results failure: nine Tigers were drafted, yet the team finished 7-6, which the host treats as evidence of coaching, development, or execution problems.
- The host says a team with that much NFL talent would normally profile as a top-15 team, so Clemson's 2025/2026 record is a major red flag for power-rating trust.
- Offensive struggles are framed as the core issue, with Clemson no longer feeling like the program that consistently made the winning play during its peak.
- The host traces the program vibe shift back to the 2021 Georgia opener, arguing Clemson has not felt like the same big-game offense since that 10-3 loss.
- Cade Klubnik landing with the Jets was discussed as an NFL opportunity, but the college takeaway is that Clemson did not convert veteran QB/talent into enough wins.
- Peter Woods going in the first round despite underwhelming production was used as another example of Clemson having NFL bodies without matching college dominance.
- Caller reaction was blunt: nine drafted players should have meant a Playoff-level or at least top-tier ACC season, not barely over .500.
- The host also raised athletic department pressure, saying football and baseball underachievement could put more attention on Clemson's leadership if the slide continues.
- Eligibility note: Tristan Smith is still a watch item; the host thinks the NCAA should allow current players in his eligibility situation to return, but no resolution was reported.
- Market relevance: Clemson's preseason talent may still be attractive, but the episode argues bettors should discount raw roster talent until offensive execution and staff performance prove fixed.
Game / Team Breakdowns
- Clemson Program: The episode is less about one position group and more about why NFL-caliber talent did not produce an elite college team.
- Offense/QB: Clemson's offense is the trust problem. Klubnik's pro landing spot does not erase the fact that the offense failed to carry a roster with draftable players.
- DL: Woods' first-round profile reinforces the talent level, but his college production gap is part of the broader underachievement discussion.
- Coaching/Development: The host and caller both point toward staff execution and development, not talent shortage, as the likely explanation for 7-6.
- Roster/NIL: NIL is discussed as changing effort, motivation, and the feel of the draft; the host does not make it a sole Clemson excuse, but it is part of the modern context.
- Market: No bet was released. Clemson should not be upgraded solely because of recruiting/draft talent unless the offense and in-game execution clearly rebound.

All right out of the gates here on a Tuesday afternoon, the NFL Draft in the rear view. The future for not is getting ready to get underway, and we'll see how their careers play out and who can hang on and will k Klubnick surprise me by not only staying in the league but maybe at some point being a starting quarterback? Who knows? I mean that that's probably the biggest question right now of all of these guys, really, And I thought William Qualkinbush yesterday made a great point about Wade wood As going to the Houston Texans, and I kind of wondered, you know, how's wood As gonna fit in in the NFL, But qualk drilled it. I think when he talked about, you know, a special teams player, it's a great place for a guy like Wade would As to start just flat out hustle and get yourself a little opportunity. And maybe it's not Houston where you eventually become a linebacker, but maybe there is a team that needs somebody and maybe you develop over the years into a versatile player that can get out there and you know, impact the game for a team. But I didn't even think about that aspect of what way what has brings to the table from his length and speed, you know, and things of that nature. But the NFL is a completely different bird. It is a completely different beast than college football, and college football is a completely different beast and bird than high school football. And we know that. So for these guys to advance to the next level and get an opportunity is absolutely a big deal. And how it plays out, all we can do now is just sit back, relax, and let it unfold. Because like if you told me, you know, when Christian Wilkins or Cleveland Ferrell went into the NFL, that their careers would have played out the way they have. And weirdly, Christian Wilkins is on the downslide right now, while Cleveland Ferrell has been on a little bit of an uptick after coming out of the gates rather slowly. You know, it's it's not a microwave, it's a crock pot, and there are going to be players that are going to go there and immediately everything they do is just going to translate. I think back to like Adrian Peterson and how good he was collegiately and then how fast he really took off in the NFL. I mean, the great NFL rookies over the years. Depending on position and team and opportunity, you know, that all plays a part of it. It's kind of got to be the perfect storm for some individuals. And in fairness, there's like always a Rookie of the Year, right, so there's always this one guy that's gonna stand out amongst the crowd, maybe like Jamar Chase back when he came into the league with Cincinnati and how good he was on the offensive side of the ball. Maybe it was a guy like Micah Parsons round about that same time with the Dallas Cowboys his first year in the league. But to truly find a town and a city and a team where you cannot only fit in but excel, you know, across the board is difficult. And you know, I look at the NFL draft order, well that might not be the best way to put it, but I look at the guys who were drafted it. You know, I said here on the program, I don't know about Fernando Mendoz and he was the number one overall pick. But like I noted, I mean, he's a winner. And last year what he did offensively forty one touchdowns, just six interceptions, And you saw that gritty performance that he had in the National Championship game, fighting for every inch to get in the end zone to win it. And when he gets his opportunity in the NFL to get a chance to, you know, prove he's worth it. Y'all. Was looking over some draft stuff last night. My dad and I were talking about Kate Clubnick's situation and landing with the New York Jets. They've got Geno Smith who is what fourteen years in the league, thirty five years old out of West Virginia, Brady Cook who's just a couple of years in the league out of Missouri, and is it Bailey's Zappi or zapp I don't know from Western Kentucky, but that's it. I mean, Kate Kid's position where he'll be able to compete, maybe be a backup. And I saw a projection that said his contract might be worth four years, five point five million dollars. Well, I'll tell you what if I was twenty two years old you told me that I could make, you know, maybe five million. Now, there's high taxes in the state of New York, but man, I would take that. I would take that in a second. The more interesting question is can he hang on? Because I would have thought that a guy like Taj Boyd would have absolutely been able to hang on in the league, given the fact that, in my opinion, Taj Boyd throws the best deep ball I've ever seen anybody throw at Clemson. I can't tell you a guy like if you said, hey, we gotta throw this deep ball, who do you want to throw it? I would say, I want Taj boy to throw it. And Boyd, of course, was also drafted by the New York Jets back in twenty fourteen. So what twelve years later, they're going back to a Tiger and maybe this one will be able to get some playing time in the NFL. It just never materialized for TAJH. Boyd. I like ToJ I'm I'm still kind of stunned that some of the guys make it in the NFL, but he couldn't. And I don't think it had to do with like smart or playbook or anything like that. I just think it comes down to the fact that what we sometimes see and believe to be great doesn't translate to that next level. But again, some of those guys you know will have perhaps a monster year as a rookie guy. I keep my own. At the eleventh pick, I'm surprised he fell that far. Caleb Downs out of a state. I mean, we heard Nick Sabin and Ryan Day talking about Caleb Downs the other day, and I thought New York. I thought the New York Jets, excuse me, the New York Giants. I got Jets on the mind. I thought the New York Giants at number ten were probably gonna take him. They had already taken his teammate Arvel Reese with the fifth overall pick. They ended up going with the offensive tackle Francis Mogwill or however you say his name, out of Miami. But Caleb Downs, to me, has that next level defender written all over him. And when you look at the way the game is currently played, with the way the ball is spread around, versatile, hard hitting guys who have great instincts and can attack the ball, I mean, they they work well in this league. How long they work? Yeah, that might be another question. You think back to guys like the Honey Badger and how impactful you know what times his career was. There are a lot of great players out there, for sure, but that would be one for me that I would go, Okay, keep your eye on Caleb Downs. Now, I don't love the Ty Simpson pick. If we're gonna talk quarterbacks for a second, the Los Angeles Rams at number thirteen moving up to take ty Simpson. You know, some people think he might end up being the star of the twenty twenty sixth draft at quarterback at least rated as the second best quarterback, and the Rams needed somebody because Matthew Stafford Matthew Stafford's windows closing, his windows closing. So I would not bank on a guy like ty Simpson either. And you know, Kay Klubnick was just the fifth quarterback take in which the NFL. It may be an EBB and aflow thing. It may also be the fact that quarterbacks at the college level can make so much money that some of those guys decided they would stick around and play their senior years. But let's see, ty Simpson went with the thirteenth. Of course, again, as I noted, Fernanda Mendoza was the first pick. Ty Simpson was thirteenth. The next quarterback came off the board in the first pick of the third round with Carson Beck was drafted by the Cardinals. Drew Aller from Penn State went in the third round with the twelfth pick in that in that round, and then Kay Club it was the tenth pick in the fourth round and the fifth overall quarterback taken. Garrett Nussmeyer from LSU did not go until the seventh round. You know, they found some issues health wise with Garrett Nusbayer and that was the reason he had one of the the largest slides people can remember. I mean, when you come out of the beginning of the twenty twenty five season against Clemson with a victory against k Klubnik, people were talking about him possibly being the number one overall pick, possible Heisman Trophy winner. He had thrown for over four thousand yards a year ago twenty nine touchdowns, but his production plummeted and a medical test revealed that he had battled a cyst on his spinal cord that impacted his play throughout the year. So Nussmeyer underwent tests at the NFL Combine that revealed the cyst and that was the root cause of his persistent oblique pain that derailed his twenty twenty five twenty twenty six season. The cyst apparently was pressing on a nerve which was causing discomfort in his oblique and so doctors say there is no short or long term risk for Nusmyer. But you know, to see him all the way down that draft board where he was. You know, do any of these quarterbacks have instant impact written all over them? I don't see it, And I think a part of it is only ten of these guys were taken. Only ten quarterbacks were taken, so many of these other guys are probably hanging around collegiately, and then ultimately because of that, maybe there are some players that would have been drafted higher that could have had an impact as a younger rookie in the NFL. But either way, the draft in the rearview, as I noted yesterday, I do like where a lot of these guys landed. I mean, I think that the situation for I'll give you an example, Antonio Williams at wide receiver with Washington and Jade and Daniels at quarterback with Washington and William's ability to not only have that kind of shiftiness that the NFL covets right now at wide out, a guy who can win some one on one matchups. Maybe there's a spot for him in the special team's punt return game, although he's a little bit undersized, and that might be something that has changed over the years, because thinking about the Washington Commanders just as a franchise, you go back to when they would have Desmond Howard back there as a punt returner. And it's not like Desmond Howard was some big guy, right, I mean, smaller, shifty guys get their ball in their hands and get out of the way. And then finally, you know, defensively, I think it's great for Peter Woods to end up with the Kansas City Chiefs. That's a veteran defensive group. It's a team where they tend to score a lot, which will probably earn him some reps. And he's a good player. His numbers didn't translate. But you know, I compared him the other day to the fact that you know, I think people thought he would be a Christian Wilkins de Dexter to Lawncey what he was. He was a lot more like Tyler Davis. But Tyler Davis continues to hold on in the NFL, and Tyler Davis continues to have an impact with the Los Angeles Rams, And so for Peter Woods to get in there, and you know, kind of learn from some veterans in that scheme. I think the biggest concern that I would have is the and look, I was wrong on Pat Mahomes. You might remember he had one good season and I was like, yeah, you know what, I think, this is all just a it's just like a one and done scenario. Then the next thing I know, he's hoisting super Bowl championships and being the best player in the league. But I would wonder how much longer Patrick Mahomes can't continue to play at the level in which he's played, And and he's the straw that stirs the drink. The second your franchise quarterback kind of becomes a little bit of a non factor for lack of a better term. And and I'm not saying he's a non factor yet, but once that happens, it's the it's the sharpest decline of any position. You can have a defensive tackle that becomes a bit of a non factor, you can have a tight end or a wide receiver non factor, but when it's your quarterback man, it's a is. It is detrimental to the entire franchise, not just the position, not just the side of the ball, the whole franchise. And he is the franchise there in large part. You put pieces around him. He's gonna make things happen. And it's also kind of interesting because you have a similar situation, I feel like with Jared Allen at Buffalo, and of course that's where TJ. Parker went, And you wouldn't be shocked if at the end of the NFL season next year you're talking about a situation where TJ. Parker and the Buffalo Bills are facing off with Peter Woods and the Kansas City Chiefs for the right to maybe go to the Super Bowl. You know, when I talked about destinations the other day, I didn't even kind of in my brain think about like playoff implications and what it would look like. And the playoffs could very well run through those guys. Speaking of which real quick super Bowl odds way in advance, I know, but this is kind of what I was talking about. So the odds of winning the Super Bowl and I feel like we sort of eyeballed this thing the other day, but just to kind of move through it pretty quickly. I won't give you, you know, the exact spot in the pecking order of where these teams were, but I can give you like whether they're towards the top of the championship ods or near the bottom. Okay, So Blake Miller gets drafted by Detroit. They are above middle eighteen to one odds. Peter Woods gets drafted by Kansas City. They are I think fifth overall at fifteen to one. TJ. Parker gets drafted by Buffalo. They're third ten to one odds. Avion Terrell gets taken by the Atlanta Falcons. They got pretty long odds. They're in the bottom quadrant at one twenty to one. Antonio Williams goes to the Washington Commanders. They're below half the halfway pointed at about sixty five to one. Cad Club that goes to the New York just They're third from the bottom at two hundred to one. Wave Wood ass goes to Houston. The Texans are above the midline in about eighteen to one, same odds as Detroit. Demante K. Park goes to Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay is right in the middle at fifty to one odds, and then Adam Randall goes to the Baltimore Ravens. They have the same odds as the Buffalo Bills. They are tied for the fourth or tied for third. I guess in the NFL at ten to one. The Los Angeles Rams have the best odds, in the Seattle Seahawks the second best odds. So those Clemson guys, I mean for a large portion of them, a huge percentage of them, very good destinations at the next level. Eight zero three four five h zero zero eighty six text line, phone line. You want to give us your thoughts on the NFL drafts as we continue to kind of discuss the ends and the outs of that from the Clemson perspective, Absolutely hit us up, all right with a quick break. We'll come back with more here on a Tuesday afternoon. Back at it, Clemson Sports Talk on a Tuesday. All right, So, talking about the NFL Draft and what I would label kind of the lack of quarterbacks that were taken. Obviously, the ink barely dry on the draft, let alone anybody signing any contracts for a but I did want to look ahead and you think about maybe some names that would have influenced this draft a little bit based off of projections for next year. And arch Manning is projected to be the top player taken next season, and had he chosen to come out this year, undoubtedly, I don't know if he would have been the top pick, but I think certainly conversations would have existed about it just because of his name and where he ends up depends upon who ends up being last in the NFL, and we kind of looked at some of the the numbers on that front in terms of the expectations for next season. But depending on where you look, Arizona, Miami, I mean, there are several different programs obviously that could end up with the top pick in the NFL draft, But no doubt arch Manning would have been a name that would have been on draft boards this year and maybe very early. Also, Dante Moore, quarterback at Oregon, chose to go back for another year. These are the kind of guys I was talking about earlier that chose to stick around for another season and make some money Collegiately, Dante Moore at Oregon projected to be one of the top picks this coming season. Sam Levitt, who has transferred now to LSU and Clemson, will get a chance to see the former Arizona State quarterback and former College Football Playoff participant up close and personal, as the Tigers will venture down to Baton Rouge for that game. Sam Levitt projected to be one of the top five picks at this point next season. Now projections are just that Kid Klubnick was projected, you might recall, to be the top quarterback, and certainly that did not shape up that way for him. But a lot of people think that this twenty twenty seven group may very well be better. Julian saying, quarterback at Ohio State, people think he's got a chance to be a top fifteen pick. Right here in Colombia, Leonora Sellers is also a quarterback that people think could earn the right to be a top fifteen pick. I really thought Sellers, kind of like Kid Klubnic a year ago, did more damage than good to his reputation, and I think if Sellers can come out and have a really good season, he might even be able to improve that further and be a top ten pick. I mean, that's the one thing that he has that kay Klebnick did not have another opportunity to prove himself collegiately. Another quarterback whose name people are also kind of mentioning in terms of maybe getting selected next season in the first round is Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, people think, and again, what we saw some versatility from him this past season would certainly put him squarely in the mix if he has a good year to do that. Now, Brendan Soresby, who we brought up yesterday with the situation where he's gotten in some hot water with gambling addiction, would have been a name that people would have thrown in there. But if this whole thing goes sideways on him, who knows how much he plays this year, How does that affect his potential pro opportunities? You know, even given the gambling aspect of it that I'm sure the NFL would want to steer clear of as well. He may have taken a pretty large hit just from the standpoint of his involvement in this gambling situation. And we can get more on that in a minute as well. But one other thing that I did note with one of the mock drafts that I was kind of running through. And this goes back to my Cad club Nick analysis at with the New York Jets. If the Jets at quarterback are as bad as I expect they might be, there's a legit chance that maybe they instead of say the Cardinals, who are expected to be a bad team this coming season, of the Dolphins, maybe it's the Jets who end up with the number one pick, and then that could mean that they could take Arch Manning or Dante More. A move like that would undoubtedly set behind, you know, kid Klubnick's opportunity, you would think in the NFL, and I don't know how interested you know, a guy like Ki Clubnick would be and sticking around with a program that just went out and got a guy with the number one or number two pick potentially depending on where the Jets end up next year. And putting you behind a kid who's maybe your age or even younger than you right out of the gates in your career probably not something then at a lot of young guys in the NFL necessarily want to sign up. For all that being said, the NFL draft projections and looking ahead is I think more difficult now than it's ever been because so many of these players can return and and play another year. They do not have to leave to go get riches, to go make money. If you look at a draft class and you think to yourself, you know what, I don't like the order of this. I don't want to end up playing in Arizona and you're a junior quarterback and you don't want to risk it, and people are projecting you to be one of the top two or three picks, and you don't want that. Just don't go, stay in college and maybe the next year, you know, the opportunity presents itself to go somewhere that you really like, like maybe Tampa's picking or you know, whoever the school is or the franchise is so understand as a fan, understand as people who consume the sports, and we're just in a different era, and that also influences some of the numbers, especially when it comes down to the NFL Draft, because there were a lot of players that I think probably five six years ago might have said, oh, you know what, I'm tired of being a broke college kid. I'm ready to make some money. Now those guys are making money, and like I said earlier, like it takes something away from the NFL Draft that you're not watching kind of broke college kids become millionaires. We're just watching a lot of millionaires become extra millionaires. All right, what a break? Will come back with more on a Tuesdays. Stay with US Clemson Sports Talk, rocking and rolling along with you on a Tuesday afternoon. You know, we don't talk politics on here, and believe me, this is not going to go down the political realm because that's just not what you tune into this show for. But I always happen to have like the quad Box on in my house where there's, you know, typically an ESPN channel. That's kind of what YouTube TV picks for me. I don't know if they piece it together based off of what I watch or what, but it's always some ESPN channel, probably a soccer matches on. Then there will at least be one news channel, and I don't know, I can't even remember what the third one. Sometimes maybe it's two Espns. But anyway, so today I'm watching the quad Box and I see King Charles speaking to Congress, and of course, with this being the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the United States declaring its independence from Great Britain and England. I mean, it was awesome to kind of see the king, the sitting King of England, talking in front of the American government. I did not remember that his mom, Queen Elizabeth, had done this before. She apparently did it. I heard some of his comments that she did it back in nineteen ninety one, and I don't know if she had done it prior to that. Obviously she was the monarch there for many, many years. But one thing he said, and I don't know if this is accurate. I didn't throw it in the Google machine, but I thought you would find it interesting to hear it. Excuse me, the bing machine, right, you're gonna bing things now, swanee. He said that when he addresses Parliament, I guess sort of like what we have, like a state of the Union. I don't know if it's every year when he addresses Parliament, but he said, when he addresses parliament, part of their tradition. Get this dating back to who knows what year, he mentioned that he was the nineteenth that you know, the nineteenth sovereign I think he called himself. In the history of the United States's Declaration of Independence from the US so dating back to King George the but he said that when he addresses Parliament that it is still part of the tradition. You know, we do still have some kooky stuff that we do in America. You know, there's some pomp and circumstance that you just have to kind of go through. It's a little bit like graduation at the university, you know, in Clemson. First off, you got the president wearing this bedazzled necklace. It looks like you straight out of the nineteen nineties music video, to the point of where there's somebody that carries in like this wizard staff that they set in front of the you know, the podium where speaking takes place, don't you know. It's kind of old school. But he said, what they do in England is they take a hostage from Parliament back to Buckingham Palace as a exchange piece to make sure that the king gets back safe. So it's sort of an old tradition. You know, it's certainly not what it may have been at one point. It's more what's the word, It's more for the the symbolism than anything else. But that's what he said. He said that they take a hostage from Parliament that goes back to Buckingham Palace and is not at the address, and that person is safely returned once the King is safely returned to Buckingham Palace. I thought that was a pretty cool story, no idea about it. Didn't throw on the Google machine, the being machine, to see if it was accurate. But I'll take his word for it. After all, he's the king, all right. Real quick, speaking of the King, how about the king of all your Clemson gear Alumni Hall right there on the corner of campus on College Avenue of downtown Clemson. For all your officially licensed Clemson merchandise hats, t shirts, tailgate gear and more. Go check them out today or online to Alumni Haul dot com. It's Alumni Haul where Tiger fans shop. All right. So a minute ago, I was talking about Brendan Soresby and his gambling addiction, which he kind of checked himself in to rehab for to try to get you know, try to get off of the wagon, so to speak. When he comes down to wagering. Brendan Soorsby attended, according to sources, attended Cincinnati Reds games on repeated occasions when he was playing with the bearcats and placed live wagers on balls and strikes. On balls and strikes, the bests ranged anywhere from two and a half dollars to less than one dollar per pitch. I mean that to me goes right back to what I said when all of this came out, like, if you're betting that kind of money, and again, it's not a lot for these guys, and the dollar is not a lot to bet. But if you're doing it over and over and over consistently throughout an entire game, for fifty one hundred, two hundred pitches, whatever, that is a problem. And the thing about it is, these kids make so much money now that he doesn't have to worry about losing. As long as he's not wagering more than he's making, he doesn't really have to worry about losing. And that high of winning can suck you in. And he's got a lot. And you hear the repetition there betting on balls and strikes in a baseball game. Yeah, no, that's rough, that's rough. And so again he checked into a residential treatment program, not a rehab pro residential treatment for a gambling addiction. And remember he's also under investigation by the NCAA for this, and further, like I noted in the last segment, maybe damages his you know, his value when it comes down to the NFL as well. So it's a double edged sword right now for swersby who the world was his oyster. But the problem was he had so much money that he really started down a path of addiction that has now taken a turn that could cost him his final season or a part of his final season collegiately, and maybe even cost him when it comes to draft day next year as well. A zero three four five zero zero eighty six text line phone line. All right, well we come back. Well hear what TJ. Parker had to say about kay Klubnick when he found out he had been picked by the New York Jets. Arrival of the Buffalo Bill. Stay with us, final segment of our Number one here on a Tuesday, a little guest free edition of the program tomorrow. It will be a lot of fun. Jamie Bradford will join the program and we'll talk with JB about everything going on with the game, Cocks and much more. Clemson baseball typically has a Tuesday game. They're off though, remember until the weekend, where they will face Boston College, and coming up in a little bit, we'll take a look at the Atlantic Coast Conference standings, which currently Clemson resides at the bottom. Just a total total surprise, kind of giving the way the season started. But you know what a tight at the Boston College. My buddy Lee texted me this. I know you're disappointed with Clemson Tiger baseball this year, for sure, but he says, I have found a new level of ineptitude Swannee in college sports. Since Boston College joined the Atlantic Coast Conference, they are one and one hundred and twenty six in ACC men's tennis matches. Their only win ever in conference play was against Miami on April fifteenth, twenty eighteen. They are one in one hundred and twenty six in terms of matches. You know, that's the whole I'm guessing shebang not. You know, they've had individuals win here and there. But when you talk about did your did did did your team beat the other team from top to bottom? No? One in one hundred and twenty six? That is one hundred and twenty seven matches and they won one. All right, take that, Boston College before you roll into death Valley, we'll take a look at the agency standing zone an hour number two. Okay, Now, TJ. Parker, former Clemson defensive been surprised me when he was drafted with the thirty fifth overall pick. I mean very early in the second round, nearly a first round draft pick, the six foot three, two hundred and sixty pounds defensive end out of Phoenix City, Alabama. I mean, he had moments in his career where he was a freak. Those moments were not his final season Nick Clemson. As a matter of fact, those moments left a lot to be desired from TJ. Parker. But you know, at practice, you don't get to hit the quarterback, and I'm sure that leaves a lot to be desired for those guys having to always you know, you blow by your guy, you make your play at practice, you got a chance to square up and just smash k Klubnick, and you're not allowed to. Well, here's what TJ. Parker had to say when he was asking about the fact that kay Klubnick ended up with the New York Jets, which are one of the rivals of the Buffalo Bills. Here's what Parker had to say about a potential meeting with his college quarterback at the pro level. Yeah, it just showed me that. Kay when you see this man, Look, if I get a chance to play you and you out there throwing that rock, it ain't no ain't no practice now, you ain't got no purple jersey zone. I don't gotta ease up no more. I'm run full speed through you. You know what I'm saying. Obviously, I'm gonna laand with my hands on the ground so we don't get fined. You know what I'm saying, We're gonna We're gonna play within the parameters. But man, I'm super excited for him. Man, he's a hard worker, unbelievable guy. Uh, he's gonna come in right away, try to you know what I'm saying, be a leader as much as possible. Man, I'm super excited to see how his career pan out. Obviously, they got Geno Smith there, so that'd be great for him to learn behind him and get things going. So I'm super excited for him. What a great answer from uh from Peter Woods on that man, that's all to hear. Ain't no purple jerseys on I'm going full speed through you. I don't think I've ever heard a former Clemson guys say that I can't stand though Clemson on Clemson crime in the NFL that is the worst. Like you're watching the Jacksonville Jaguars versus you know whoever. I guess back it was the New York Giants or the Miami Dolphins at the time, and you got Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence and other guys getting after Trevor Lawrence and you're just like, oh man, this is not not what I came to see. I like to watch the Clemson guys dominate, does not dominate each other? A zero three four or five zero zero eighty six. That is the text line in the phone line. Speaking of which we did get a text message in. Let me jump into that one real fast. You know, I apologize for not getting it in sooner, but sometimes I get caught up. Bobby, speaking of which it's Bobby in New Jersey. He says, Swanny, I just saw that Coach Prime is doing commercials for adult diapers. I'm feeling old Bobby that. Yeah, listen, man, you and me both like there's so many guys who are just a little bit older than we are, right and they've crossed over into their sixties or they're sixty five, like people who are fifteen years older than me. You're like sixty five. And I'm not saying it sixty five is old. Okay, if you're out there and you're sixty five, I'm not saying you're old. But what I am saying is, pretty quickly you start being the target demographic for the adult diaper commercials, the the hearing aids and vision screening and like that stuff. They're not advertising that to kids, Okay, They're running Pampers commercials during the cartoons and and uh, you know the morning stuff, like what's a show that comes on? Back when I was a kid, there were a bunch of game shows in the morning. I don't know if there are anymore. Not prices right, probably the one. But back when I was a kid, you had like Classic Concentration, you had twenty thousand dollars Pyramid or whatever it was. I mean, there was a ton of game shows in the mornings. That was the reason to be sick. Sale of the Century was another great one that I always like watching. But those shows advertised to the mom's If you're watching golf match and they're and and there's Dion Sanders hitting you know, hitting you up and telling you about how great these these adult diapers are. That's for you. And remember Dion was dealing with all those e sh was this past year and they had to have the little uh you know, they had to have the little bathroom on the sidelines for him and all that stuff. But hey, give him credit for this. He has taking it in stride where a lot of people really can't do that. A guy with that ego swallowing his pride and say hey, this is who I am. Kudos the Dion for that. Our two flip side each time Clipson and Sports Talk with Lawton Swan. But you could continue to pick over the fans at the best radio showing the nation. I'm a Carolina fan. I would listen to your show, and I want to compliment you on your even handedness between Clemson and Carolina. Wow, I list need the sports Pot radio all over, But the one do you come across makes me ship You're gonna find your stuff not on the. Radio, it is our number two. That's drive time right here on the show that shakes the south Land, Clemson sports Tall Lord Swann on a Tuesday afternoon, I'll be going to the swamp tonight. It's the Gators' final home game of the regular season, as we will host christ Church. Be a big one you need to win. Played him earlier this year, got a dub. Have struggled lately though, so hopefully we'll bounce back before the playoffs again. A three four five zero zero eighty six. That is the text line in the online. That's the way you can be a part of the program. And as always to show the Shakes of south Land is brought to you in part by our good friends over at Mets Plumbing metz Plumbing dot com two two six seven one eight two two six seven one zero eight. Give them a call today, that's Mett's Plumbing or online at mets plumbing dot com. All right, out of the gates, our number two. We've talked a good bit today about the NFL Draft, and one of the things that I I heard on social media, I believe it was Andy Staples who's now with on three uh Andy Staples and I think Ari whatever his name is, I can't remember. They were talking about Clemson and how much kind of grief people had given them over the past year about their projection of Clemson winning the Atlantic Coast Conference last season, the belief that Clemson was going to be in the College Football Playoff, Like everything that fell short for the Tigers, people who predicted it. When you have a big national audience will take a lot of grief about it, and that's what these guys did. They have taken grief on top of grief on top of grief about believing in Clemson. And you and I have talked about here on the program that nine players being drafted by the Tigers validates just how bad of a job the coaching staff did at Clemson a year ago. Now you could talk about the defense, and there were certainly deficiencies on the defensive side of the ball, and there were people there are people out there that are going to immediately say that the defenses under West Goodwin performed better than the defense under Tom Allen, and that Wes Goodwin got more out of guys like Peter Woods and TJ. Parker, And the numbers are undeniable, But maybe the bigger story is about Clemson's offense, and that would still kind of harken back to the situation that took place with former Clemson Tiger offensive coordinator Garrett Riley, which that is one where I think we all have bag on our face. I can't think of a person if you know somebody that thought Clemson hiring Garrett Riley was going to be a flop, please let me know. I think the real question that you might want to ask yourself today is what if Dabosweeney had not been so quick to pull the plug on Brandon Streeter as the offensive coordinator? What if Dabblisweeney had let Brandon Streeter, you know, fight through the dj Uyunglowa years, which I think most of us would put the struggles of the offense in large part during that time on dj and not on the staff. And I don't know whether or not Chad Morris will work out, that is yet to be determined. But looking back on what you saw this past season, even with the defense not being where maybe you would have wanted it to be, you could still very easily say, Okay, the fact of the matter is if the offense is better, you might be in contention for a ten win season. You know, Clemson wasn't this team even though they were seven and six, that was just obliterated game in and game out. Obviously they were not as good as they had been in the past, and it certainly was disappointing for every Clemson Tiger fan to watch what took place. But if we're being fair, if the offense is just a little bit better, not oh they gotta be, who's the greatest offense of all time? I'm trying to think of, like, you know, the nineteen eighty seven San Francisco forty nine ers. You know, if this offense is just a little bit better, they probably can withstand the defensive deficiencies. They probably don't lose at Georgia Tech. They might not lose in the opener against LSU if they're better on offense a year ago. And if you don't lose those two games. And this is the funny thing about it, and I feel like I'm kind of witnessing this right now with my son's soccer team. What's the old thing, ninety five percent of the game is mental or something along those lines, like, there's a ton of this that's mental. If you beat LSU and you win that game, you probably don't play so poorly against Troy. You probably don't go to Georgia Tech and get beat you by Syracuse at home because you were so down about starting in the year when you had these high hopes of making the College Football Playoff. You probably don't get rolled in that game because you're one and two. And imagine just for a minute that you go into that SMU game at home at six and zho. Do you think you lose the SMU there? Do you think you lose on a flukey play late to Duke? Maybe not? And if those and look, that is a lot of if. That's a lot of ifs and butts, Okay, but if if the offense is better, maybe this team wasn't that far off. In what Andy Staples had to say about it, I'll see if I can pull the audio for you, is that the NFL Draft simply validated essentially just how much Clemson really left out there last year, and that anybody that projected them to win an ACC championship probably should not be considered to be that far off on their projection. I mean, it was coaching. I don't think anybody denies that, but just maybe most of the issues came down to the offense not being able to produced the way you would have wanted it to. Now there was the Duke game was high score and the Syracuse game. I mean was that was a lot of that was about the defense. I don't deny that fact. But if you're playing better at that point in the season across the board, maybe maybe those things turn out a little bit differently for Clemson. But either way, here's what Andy Staples and Ari Again, I have no idea what Ari's last name is, but this is what they had to say on on three show talking about the Tigers and their success of nine guys drafted in the NFL. Clemson nine players drafted, tied for the lead in the ACC with Miami with nine NFL draft picks Listen Dablos. Sweeney has said last year was a failure of coaching, but that watching it happen, watching the draft unfold, just makes. You matter that it went down this way. Andy, I was actually kind of we took a lot of from people for picking Clemson to win the ACC and be a playoff national championship contender at this time last year. Correct, guys, guys, just a simple analysis. If you would have told me, I will blind. It doesn't matter who you are, what conference. You're in, or. What school colors you are, or your history. If you tell me a school was going to have nine players taken in next year's draft. That would be an automatic top fifteen team for me in the off season, right, do we want to? Can I name the teams that had at least nine? Sure? Texas A and M had ten College FOOTBA playoff team. Alabama had ten College FOOTBA playoff team. That's it. From the SEC. Ohio State had eleven College football playoff team. National champion indi En only had eight, Miami had nine played for the national title. Clemson had nine. Texas Tech had nine conference champion College football playoff team. That's it. That's all of them. And so they're right, like they are right about that, and you have every reason to be frustrated because today you would if you were told like from some sort of you know, if a time traveler came back and said, hey, here's the twenty twenty seven NFL draft. Here are the teams that have the most players drafted, and here's a list of those teams, and Clemson's on there with nine draft picks. We would all believe that this team is going to be better than we expect this year. I don't think many of you believe that this Clemson team is going to have nine players drafted, And I also started to think of it like this too. And I want to give credit where credit is due for Dabo Sweeney, because they have had years where Clemson didn't have a ton of players drafted, but yet the team was incredibly successful, which means you got more out of less. Now you could make the argument that guys returned, et cetera, et cetera, right, that guys decided to come back. Now that twenty sixteen team that had nine players previously, that team lost one game and that was the National championship, and you lost nine players off of that team. And then the following year you went and won the national title and you lost what six guys I think in twenty seventeen that draft with Deshaun and Cordray tankersly, so six guys off that team and they won a NAST championship. That's fifteen players in two years, and you still didn't fall off. The following year, you went into the playoff, got beat in the semi final by Alabama, but you only had three players drafted, but yet you still performed at an elite level. The next year, you had what six guys drafted? You won a national title, went undefeated. It's not like was doing that stuff and they had fifteen guys taken. I mean they kind of earned it along the way and continued to just produce solid classes, make no bones about it, With ninety five guys taken during his tenure, Clemson has been fairly loaded. But even teams that went undefeated made it runs to College Football Playoff. I mean, those teams had like five guys taken. And that means to me that Dabo Sweeney is getting or has traditionally gotten, more out of his draft classes than a lot of programs, because I guarantee you there have been a lot of programs that have had more players drafted than Clemson, but they have not had that same level of success. This year, ironically, the Tigers are the one that did not have the level of success. And I think compound that with the fact that it really has been since that COVID nineteen season where Clemson felt like Clemson, you know, Trevor Lawrence's junior year. I think that's probably one of the big issues that Dabosweeny is currently facing, is not that you get in the College Football Playoff a year ago and you have all these high expectations and you fall short. It's that it just hasn't felt the same around Tigertown since Trevor Lawrence walked out the door. The quarterback situation with DJ Willunglole did not work out. The quarterback situation with Kaye Clubnick didn't pan out the way people hoped. I think for most people, kay Clubnick felt like a bigger positive than DJ DJ. I think will always go down as a grand mystery for people. Man remember his commitment and how big that commitment was, and how you felt with a five star kid coming across the country to take the reins for this Clemson program that had been elite, and you never know how those things are gonna work. But he was gonna be behind Trevor Lawrence. And you know, Trevor ends up getting COVID. And you take this freshman fellow to Notre Dame and he sets an all time passing mark and you're thinking, dude, this is not falling off. This is not falling off until it did, and it I think since Clemson got punched in the mouth in Charlotte by Georgia, and I'm not talking about a game that was a beatdown either that's that was the thing that opener for Clemson back in twenty twenty one, That opener felt like when it all changed. Clemson Georgia, neutral site game and the Tiger offense just can't do anything. Georgia goes on to win the national title that year. Ten to three was the final score or pick six sealed it. And it never has felt quite like that for the Tigers since that day, since that first snap, since that opening performance. I remember the anticipation and the build up of that game. It was a top five matchup, it was a neutral site. The fact that it was being played in Charlotte was cool because that's a game that traditionally would have been played in Atlanta and would have been in George's backyard, and Clemson kind of had it in their backyard. I mean, for Charlotte to have that game in the opener. But the pick six in the second half, or excuse me, in the second quarter with about three minutes left, seventy four yards, that was when Clemson could have kicked the field goal. I mean, I'll never forget that play because I remember coming here and talking to you about it on the air, and that would have gain have been Clemson that drive, the Tigers would have taken a three point lead. And really the only thing that had to happen to keep that play from being an interception is probably justin Ross coming across the face of the defender. Remember, Ross was coming back off of his injury, and he didn't he didn't cross the face, which allowed the defender to pick that ball off Christopher Smith and return at seventy four yards for a score. And that game was the last time Clemson felt the way that they had felt for half a decade. In my opinion, after that game, it never felt the same again. I can't remember a moment after that game where I felt and you've probably felt like Clemson was going to make the play that was going to win a game prior to that game. And Georgia fans take solace in this because you are probably the one that really kind of broke through Clemson's magic. You snapped the horseshoe because the Tigers would always just find a way, And really, since that moment, it's felt to me like they haven't found the way to win games. They've been the team that's turned the ball over instead of the team that's forced the turnover. They've been the team that's missed the big kick instead of the team that's made the big kick. And they've had some moments here and there, don't get me wrong, getting into the College Fotball Playoff, competing against Texas, the fifty six yard field goal that just get there. But think about how that SMU game played out and how you're holding on for everything you're worth. That's not the it felt during that magical run for Clemson over those years. And I think that's a part of sort of where you know, Clipson fans are right now with this team. But to know that you had nine guys drafted and you were barely above five hundred, that's just a sad scenario. Quick break, when we come back, Double Oh's on the line, stay with us, rocking and rolling along with you on a Tuesday afternoon, Lawton Swan. We've been talking a lot about the NFL Draft over the past couple of days, and that's gotten the ire of our good buddy, double Oh, Double Oh. Welcome in a solid papal to you, sir, very nice. I like to start the show with explosions, explosives, pals bangs and all be above. We need. We need to get to the nitty gritty and talk about these nine players from Clinton that we're drafted. So I'll let you have the floor, sir. Well, I mean, look, I've been talking about it. I think it's an underachievement of the coaching staff. And I think you know, I played some audio just a minute ago. I don't know if you heard it, but uh Andy Staples and Ari whatever his name is. I don't know the other guy's name. I should probably look that up. They said, look, if you told them today that a team was gonna have nine players drafted in the NFL Draft, they would pick that team to be a top fifteen team. Clemson was seventy six last year. Double Oh. Yeah, but that is what I call seven and six with that kind of talent gloss. One. I don't disagree, I. Agree with what exactly. I'm glad we're agreeing with each other because that's proof. I'm not gonna say in the pudding, because that's fun, I guess could be anyway. Yeah, when you got nine players that were drafted, we should have been, you know, in the player for the final four teams at least. Well not only that, but you had nine This is the other thing too. Nine players drafted in five rounds, Like every player from Clemson was taken by the fifth round. I didn't think all nine would get taken. The NFL clearly liked the players, but man, they did not perform for Dabo Sweeney. They did not. And I'll tell you one. Peter Woods was a big black down. Okay. Yeah, and he goes in the first round with the twenty ninth pick. Yeah, and he didn't play ball last year. He didn't play. I mean, he wasn't He wasn't performing up to his potential. And I and I talked about it before they paid these guys money, and they said, oh, I don't have to play anymore. You know, they don't have to give one hundred percent. I got a big check in my pocket. It ruins talent. Well, I'll say this too, I and you just brought up another point I've talked about a little bit. The NFL draft used to feel like you were watching these college guys get money for the first time in their lives. And so it was kind of magical to see their families' lives changed. Now they make so much play in collegiately, a lot of them not all, but a lot. It does make you think that, you know what, it really is not all that special to watch them get drafted. I agree, it's not it's not anything. I mean, it's become the norm. Am I right around? Yeah? I mean I think we've all we've all kind of gotten to the point where these kids are doing a lot better than ninety five percent of us. No doubt there overnight wealthy buy their mom and dad a house overnight. It makes no sense to me, Loston, Sir, don't like it, and see what it's done to. The game ruined, Dick, I don't think you're the only one that feels that way. Double Oh. Hopefully we can get it straightened out, though who knows. It can't be fixed. My friend can't put this. You're gonna cut me off and tell me goodbye, So I'll speak to the you know what overton, Double O, go pop. Out and U pup out right back to you. Double oh, all right, three four five oh zero zero eighty six. That's how double O gets in on the program. And listen, We've encouraged you all. We always encourage you to do the same. You are welcome to do it. It's eight oh three four five zero zero eighty six. You can text me. I'll call you back if I need to, or you can leave us a message like our buddy Jamal does from tom to time, or you could text us like Bobby and I love it when we get a chance to talk with you guys here on the program. I mean, it's always a ton of fun, regardless of how things are going in the sports world for Clemson. You know, I said here on the program yesterday, yeah about Eric Beckitch, like back, it just crossed over into the realm of fire or bullefens. And I hate that because I'd like to believe that it's gonna work for him at Clemson, but maybe it's not, And maybe this season is a fireble offense. But you know, the other guy that's starting to take some heat, and probably rightfully so kind of ironic given the fact that we see Dan Radikovich getting ready to retire at Miami. I mean, Radikovich is run at Clemson historic, and when he passed the torch to Graham Nef who was young and had worked under Dan Radikovich, I think a lot of people felt like, oh, this thing is just gonna you know, the passing of the torch is going to go perfectly to a new generation, the younger generation of leadership. And I think Graham Nef is a super nice guy, and I think it would be fascinating to watch his career mature at Clemson. And it might, but with the university getting a new president, with the struggles that we've seen from Clemson on the athletic fields of play, with men's sports kind of being where they are. Football what it was this year, Baseball what it is. Basketball is still a highlight. But you guys would happily make a change because you don't really feel like, oh, basketball is overly important. Very few of you feel about basketball the way I do. But I think Graham Nef is slowly moving into the spotlight of potentially being somebody that Clemson might be willing to move on from as the athletic director. And I think there's pressure on his job more than Dan Radikovich ever faced during his tenure at Clemson. I can guarantee you that, all right, with a quick break when we come back, I'll give you a quick update on a situation that I think everybody in college sports is following. When it comes down to eligibility stay with us. Lawton Swan, Clemson's sports Talk. Don't forget Alumni Hall right there on the corner of campus on College Avenue of downtown Clemson for all your officially licensed Clemson merchandise, hats, t shirts, tailgate gearmore. Go check them out today online at alumni haul dot com. And if you're a Clemson student, you're a faculty member, or you're in the military, you get ten percent off when shopping in store in Alumnae Hall right there on the corner of campus shop or eye Shop in Loumne Hall dot com. All Right, So the NCAA is working on that five years to play five deals, so red shirts essentially won't exist. You'll get five years to play. And whether you do or you don't, you know, that's really on you and your coaching staff. But you'll get five. Now. Tristan Smith, a lot of us are interested to see what happens for him, as he transferred to CLET and is trying to get another year of eligibility. Well. NCAA President Charlie Baker told ESPN today that he's pretty optimistic that the new aged based eligibility proposal will happen and that the d one Board of Directors met today will recommend to not implement this rule retroactively for graduates who have exhausted their eligibility, meaning a guy like Smith who is trying to get eligibility would not technically be eligible. Charlie Baker says, if you've used up your eligibility, you've used it up. Now. The problem is to me guys like Trinidad Chambliss. You know players that are out there that have already gotten approved to stick around and play another year now. Tristan Smith put out a tweet responding to this, and I love what his tweet says. He says, I graduated high school in twenty twenty two. I got affected by COVID players getting another year in twenty twenty two. I got affected by JUCO players getting another year in twenty twenty five, and now I can't get a fifth year, but every class after me can. And I agree, like I feel like these kids who are kind of sandwiched in, like Tristan Smith, given the fact that you've got some other players out there already, like Trinidad Chambliss, who have gotten another year. Now, if you want to go back and take Chambliss away and all this, Hey, go for it. But to me, what's good for the goose should be good for the gander, and every player that's playing currently that has eligibility left and would like to exercise that to me should be able to given where we've been or the way things have taken place. And so at this point, Chambliss is expected to play. At this point, Tristan Smith, who knows. And let's just talk about their ages real quick, all right. So Trinidad Chambaliss his birthday is August twenty fourth, two thousand and two. Tristan Smith's birthday is September fourteenth, two thousand and three. He is more than a year younger than Trinidad Chambliss. So let me ask you something. Do you believe that if Trinidad Chambliss's name was Tristan Smith and Tristan Smith's name was Trinidad Chambliss, Right, if you swap these guys, the one guy was younger at Old Miss and the star quarterback. The other guy was older and a sparsely used wide receiver at Clemson. If you just switch their ages and their names, you think Tristan smiths eligible, right, The one that would be the quarterback at ole Miss and I agree, But to me, it really shouldn't be that way. If one player one this year is eligible to play another season in college, if a single player won an appeal, all of these guys, in my opinion, with the new rule that want to come back, should be able to I. I can't tell your reason. Why not you open up the opportunity. You're gonna allow it in the future. Just grandfather it in to the seniors and allow some of these guys that want to return to have that opportunity to return. And in addition to that, the NFL, excuse me, the the n C double A got NFL on the mind. The n C double A would save themselves litigation and arguments. Nobody's nobody's gonna come battle you. If you just say, hey, we're gonna we're gonna round this thing to everybody that's eligible and say, but you understand, if you get hurt or you missed this coming year or whatever, that's it. It's it's a one year, one and done. That's your fifth and after that it's over. Do you know how much how many headaches they would save themselves for an institution that doesn't do a lot. The NCAA sure likes to give itselves a bunch of headaches that you don't even need. You just say, guys, if this was your you know, fourth year, and you've got eligibility left, here you go. We'll give you a shot. We'll let you We'll let you play a fifth I mean immediately, probably eighty percent of your lawsuits go out the window. Guys are eligible and everybody knows it. We'll see how it all shakes out. For Tristan Smith. I know Clemson fans and Dabbo swing and everybody's rooting for him. It's not like he's ever played at the highest level at you a ton of opportunity and he's gotten this chance. And now all he needs is, you know, the NCAA to give him that fifth year so he can you know, he can get there in place that having to arguing fight for it. Final segment, flip side. What have you done for me lately? It's a fair question, just on lose sight of the bigger picture. Don't forget history. Lucky for us at Clemson, the answer to the questions what have you done for me lately? What have you done? Always are the same. We win. Final segment on a Tuesday Afternoon Clemson Sports Swan, Hey, if I told you guys about Mosquito joke man. They have been serving my house and several people at my neighborhood for years. Give them a call today. That's Mosquito Joe of Lake Murray. Ato three two five three sixteen fifty four. Talk to them about how their expert pest control can make out doors great again for you. I love it. They stopped by yesterday a buzz free property. I told you I was when I was Wait, I was about to say when I was a kid. We didn't have this technology when I was a kid. But when my children were younger they go outside and play. It was so nice not to have all of the bugs and mosquitoes bothering them, biting them. Now, my wife and I are the ones that are enjoying the backyard under the gazebo, smart prevention and high tech tools. That's Mosquito Joe of Lake Murray. Give them a call today. Ato three two five three sixteen fifty four. Tell them. Swany sincha all right, final thing here, just kind of pruising the college sports spectrum. Former Clemson offensive coordinator, former Clemson player current Virginia head coach Tony Tony Elliott got a contract extension which will run through May of twenty thirty one, and bumps this compensation by twenty two point seven percent from four point four million to five point four million. The buyout for leaving starts at five million and falls to three million after May of twenty twenty nine, and to one million in his contract's final year. Now, we talked a lot about quarterbacks and things like that, and one name that we didn't even bring up, Chandler Morris. Chandler Morris tried to get an additional year of eligibility. You might recall that was denied out. Chandler was not drafted, which I think was a little bit surprising given how good he played. Like I would tell you Chandler Morris played better than better than kay Clubvick last year, wouldn't you. I mean, think about the year of Virginia had Chandler Morris a huge part of that through for over three thousand yards, led them to the a SEC Championship game. Phenomenal year Antony Elliott's system. Chandler Morris has signed a undrafted free agent agreement and we'll get an opportunity with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He tried to get an additional year college. He played for four colleges during his career. He turned twenty six and December. His dad was on this program throughout the year and at one point he said, yeah, Chandler's the Chandler's part of the problem with college football. But Morris's college career done. He's headed to Tampa Bay. He'll give it a shot there. If it doesn't work out, those undrafted free agents, they do move around, and perhaps he can find another opportunity if it doesn't work out there. What's interesting is I do wonder had he not been arguing for an additional year of college, would Chandler Morris have had a better chance of being drafted or did that hold him up? Because I think he was in court, like in early April about this whole situation. And it also kind of feeds into what we talked about with the draft and the fact that Chandler Morris, there's no doubt I don't know what he was making at Virginia huom it's two million or less. I don't think it's more than two He's not making that as an undrafted free agent in the NFL, so more players like Chandler. We're certainly gonna If you can't quite be drafted high enough, wouldn't you rather stick around try to make some more money collegiately while you can. My dad used to say, when I was playing pac Man when I was a kid, well, actually it wasn't pac Man. It was kind of a knockoff. We had a Texas instrument computer the hook to the TV and it might have been like a t I ninety nine. That might have been a calculator, I can't remember, but we had that Texas instrument and it was a game called munch Man. Munch Man was like a knockoff of pac Man. Instead of eating pellets, munch Man dropped these little look like chain links out of his rear end as he ran around the board. And instead of the power pellets that blinked to give you like the superpower in pac Man, munch Man had these blinking Texas symbols for Texas instruments, and when you ate one, your guy was invincible like pac Man. And my dad would always say, make hay while the sun shines. That's what Chandler Morris is trying to do. That's what these college guys are trying to do. That maybe aren't going to be the best professionals. They're getting paid a lot to play collegiately. Hey, make hay while the sun shines. All right, we'll be back tomorrow at four o'clock. Until this is always, you'll take care now and go Tigers.
Show notes:
The NFL Draft is in the books, and Clemson’s talent is undeniable—nine Tigers selected. But instead of celebrating, Swanny dives into the bigger question: how did a team with that level of NFL-caliber talent fall so short on the field? From Cade Klubnik’s landing spot with the Jets to the surprising evaluations across the board, the draft becomes a mirror reflecting Clemson’s biggest issue from last season—execution. Was it coaching? Development? Or something deeper in the program’s identity since the post-Trevor Lawrence era? Swanny also explores how NIL has changed the feel of the NFL Draft, why fewer quarterbacks are entering early, and how the modern college landscape is reshaping player decisions. Plus: Why Clemson’s offensive struggles may have been the true culprit last season Early outlook on future QB classes and draft implications A look at eligibility battles, including Tristan Smith’s case It’s a candid, big-picture breakdown of where Clemson stands—and why the gap between talent and results is the real story.
