Did the Gators fire Mullen to soon?
Summary
Napier inherited Mullen's depleted roster: weak LBs, terrible tailbacks, no starting WRs; rebuilt through transfers and true freshmen.
Napier being a bad hire does not mean Mullen was a good hire. Remember that first year under Napier? Remember how our 2 starting Linebackers were holdovers from the Sharkhumper 5 years earlier and we had NOTHING behind them? Remember how our Tailbacks were garbage and 2 newbies - one a transfer and one a true freshman - were far better than any of the backs on our roster? Remember how we had to bring in Ricky Pearsall at WR because we did not have one single WR who could threaten anybody? Shall I go on? I can. Look over the roster on Defense. It was garbage.
