MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Central Michigan Football wrapped up its 2026 spring ball schedule with an action-packed spring scrimmage on Tuesday evening at sunny Kramer/Deromedi Field at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Tuesday's scrimmage was the final of 15 spring practices for the Chippewas, who opened practice on March 17. Central Michigan welcomed 98 players to spring practice, including 39 newcomers. The Chippewas return 13 players who made starts last year and a host of others who saw extensive action in 2025. The 90-minute scrimmage featured 46 offensive snaps. Central Michigan head coach Matt Drinkall was pleased with the results both today and through spring ball. "It was a good day with perfect weather," Drinkall said. "It was short, fast, and we had super fan engagement with a great turnout from families and alumni. We had 125 alumni in our player suite behind us. We made it out injury-free and got a lot of material on tape." "I'm happy with our progress coming out of spring practices. 54 percent of our roster is brand-new. Getting our procedural pieces out of the way heading into the summer was key for us this spring, and it went well." https://cmuchippewas.com/news/2026/4/21/...-scrimmage
