[Like]0 [Dislike]0 Project underway to replace football stadium lights HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A project to install new lights at the Joan C. Edwards Stadium is underway at Marshall University. The university said the lights were causing safety concerns. At a Board of Governors meetings in April, safety issues and fire hazards were addressed. This includes rusted structural component and deteriorating fixtures. There were also concerns about water intrusion into electrical panels. To address this, there is $500,000 to $600,000 going to replace the lights. It is coming from private funding. https://www.wsaz.com/2026/05/21/project-underway-replace-football-stadium-lights/ Interesting to see the money for this "is coming from private funding". I guess it just shows how tight money is at Marshall for infrastructure or M/R improvements? I believe academic building maintenance has a higher priority over athletic repairs at Marshall which it should be. I believe Ohio U also has the same problem with finding money for general repairs and maintenance on its buildings. « Last Edit: May 21, 2026, 11:15:17 AM by Flat Tire 2 »
