The Gumbo Gala, a fund raiser for the Episcopal Place retirement community, is tomorrow, Sat. 4/17, from 12-4 pm at Cahaba Brewing off of Clairmont. There will be a bunch of teams cooking their version of gumbo of all sorts. Chicken and Sausage, Seafood, all sorts of recipes. I've had Duck Gumbo, Alligator Gumbo, you name it. Pay the entry fee, then go from tent to tent. They'll give you a cup with a bit of rice in the bottom and fill it with gumbo. It's all you can eat until they run out. They'll have a band as well. Tickets are $20 each, all you can eat, if you get them today online or at Episcopal Place, next door to the Virginia Samford theater. Cost a bit more at the door, dunno what the mark up is. The teams will be from various Episcopal churches, businesses, and restaurants around town, with prizes awarded to the teams whose pot of gumbo is voted best. It's a blast, and there will be plenty of good food to go around. Get there as early as you can - people double back for more of their favorites, so the best batches run out first. Y'all come. We've done this years, both cooking on a team and just eating and drinking beer till we couldn't wiggle. It's always a good time. Come on down after watching football in the morning, or just come on. Hope to see you there. https://www.episcopalplace.org/gumbo-gala
