This is just a coordinator taking on the personality of the head coach. Weekend of Alabama and Indiana fans yelling at each other online about It's great. I know that you personally have been harmed by the rise of Indiana football and the Indiana football fans that have popped up around you that seemingly were absent for decades upon decades. They're just everywhere now. But for us to get Alabama fans and Indiana fans yelling at each other, that's that's just good stuff. And that was one when we talked about hypothetical like rivalries you want to see. Uh now now this might move top of the list. I want to see Bama Indiana every year. I know that's our cuz isn't Indiana officially a crimson, too? So that cuz there are three crimson teams, right? >> Yeah, crimson and yeah. Crimson So there's there's crimson and cream is Oklahoma. But then I'm pretty sure crimson Yeah, crimson and white is the official. So we got those uh those three right there. I mean like it was kind of a self-own though, wasn't it? Like Ty is like, yeah, they didn't do anything complicated. It's like and they still kicked your ass. You couldn't do anything in that game. And he was kind of complimenting the coaching. Like cuz he was like they were so well disciplined and they were where they were supposed to be every time. I do think the comment that got him was when he said the SEC defenses are tougher to see, you know, and he I think that was what got him cuz even in the comments you saw it was like, well, didn't he compliment the coaching? But Brian Haines didn't take it that way. I will say Ty Simpson is the first person I've heard say that what Indiana did defensively was simple. So, maybe Ty is I know, that's the other thing. >> levels above us as far as when it comes to like diagnosing a defense. I don't >> I would not That's the same thing I thought. Like, I don't remember watching their film and being like, "Oh, this is just cover two and cover three, and that's it." They do a lot of They disguise really well. Yeah, I I think there's a part of it where what they do after the snap might be basic sometimes, but the way that they show it to you is never basic. Like, it's it's hard to figure it out before the snap. So, I don't know, maybe there's something to what he's saying. Maybe Indiana felt like, "We've got this so down what they're doing that we don't really need to put anything special out here. We can just stick and shell stuff and disguise it pre-snap." But, >> [snorts] >> I don't know. Every time I've watched Indiana, basic is not really a word that comes to mind. I also think from a game planning standpoint, and between the three of us, I'm definitely going to be on the low end of the the X's and O's acumen, but I do know that Alabama's offense had flaws. And if I spent weeks preparing for Alabama's offense, I would have said, "Okay, here's the like two things that can't happen, and anything else, sure, right?" And that might have simplified the game plan or simplified the way it was presented to Ty Simpson, because Alabama's offense didn't wasn't so multifaceted with excellence that you had to be concerned for lots of stuff. It's very much like, "Okay, what what are we concerned about? Well, we've got some wide receivers with a lot of speed. All right, let's make sure to keep all that in front of us. The run game stinks, you know, they're not going to be able to to get anything going there." So, I could I could see I haven't gone back to watch the Rose Bowl again recently, but I could see why that could have been presented in that fashion based on the matchup. Um Brian Hains Let's see. Did he end up winning the Broyles? Thanks to that basic ass defense of his. [laughter] Oh, so good. COMING UP ON THE other side, a tour around the country looking at some of the things we heard, in some cases saw, and definitely read from all across the country from big spring games, Ohio State, Michigan, Miami, Virginia Tech.
