yeah, the whole point is a) the ACC for sure and probably the big 12 won't look like they do currently after 2030 b) football is the decider c) if we can hang on as a competitive football team for 4 seasons we will be in discussions with the flotsam and jetsam to be favorably placed in tier 2 d) I believe that is the strategy in the backrooms at Tulane lots of p4 angst about being left in 2nd tier- like we have angst about being left in 3rd tier I'm comfortable in 2nd tier with (generally) peer regionals the Duke playing chess comment is really aimed at UNC which HAS lots of resources but is thinking like it is 2016. Duke's moves are putting it in a place an order of magnitude ahead of the rest of the ACC, business-wise. The Bellichik gambit which blew up in their face was to raise the profile of their football. it DID show that they were willing to throw a lot of money at the problem, though..... NC State and Va Tech's only hope is meddling legislature Clemson and FSU, for all their historical success and bravado, are not super interesting to SEC or Big10.... so....... it's not ALL about W-L.
