It’s easy to get frustrated when talking about Georgia State athletics. But every once in a while it’s worth remembering where this started. Football didn’t begin until 2010. The program moved from FCS to FBS in a remarkably short period of time. The university itself spent decades as a commuter school before evolving into the institution we know today. Many of the programs Georgia State competes against have had generations to build traditions, facilities, donor bases, and fan support. Georgia State has been building much of that in real time. That doesn’t excuse shortcomings. But context matters.
