QB: Brady Edmunds has really been picked apart since receiving his Ohio State offer.

What is your opinion now of Brady Edmunds who has thrown for over 5,900 yards in his first two years while completing 60% of his passes with ... show more Brady Edmunds has really been picked apart since receiving his Ohio State offer. It seems like the offer gave people a reason to go back, watch more of his film, and take a deeper dive into both his strengths and areas for improvement. One thing that stands out is the progression he made from his sophomore to junior season. He threw quite a few interceptions as a sophomore, but that number dropped significantly as a junior, which is an obvious sign of growth. While interceptions can certainly be the result of poor decision-making by a quarterback, they can also be influenced by scheme and play-calling. Sometimes coordinators put quarterbacks in difficult situations where the progression isn't clean, forcing them to either hold the ball too long or try to fit throws into tight windows. Early in a quarterback's career, you often see more of those forced throws as they learn what they can and can't get away with at the next level. The biggest question surrounding Edmunds right now seems to be his mobility. Has he gotten faster? Has he become more explosive and athletic since last season? That's one of the things I'll be paying close attention to when I see him at camp this week. We've compared him in some ways to Justin Herbert, and Herbert is a much better athlete than many people realize. He moves around extremely well for a quarterback of his size. I'm not sure Edmunds is at that level athletically right now, but players can make huge jumps between their sophomore and junior years, whether it's in the weight room, on the field, or simply through physical maturation. At 6-foot-5, Edmunds is going to have imposing size when he steps on the field, and there's no question he can generate tremendous velocity on the football. It'll be interesting to see how his overall athleticism and movement skills look in person this week. Stay tuned for Bucknuts video coverage later this week when Brady Edmunds arrives at Ohio State. If he throws a bunch of picks his senior year then I would take a step back.
