Special teams has been more than subpar for the good part of the past couple of seasons. Kicking has been rough (save for pre-60 yard FG attempt Boomer and Ruelas’s fantastic season last year), punting has been horrendous outside of maybe McCarthy, and a severe lack of special teams return TDs (perhaps that was part of Gus and co’s modus operandi- Fair Catch Whittemore and the likes). Special teams can really be some of the most enjoyable and most frustrating parts of a football game, and I hope we make some more progress this year.
