Iowa State freshman Christian Wiggins tears Achilles tendon, out for 2026-27 season
Summary
Injury: Wiggins was going to have to work himself into the rotation, in my opinion, but ultimately, this sucks for him and Iowa State.
Wiggins was going to have to work himself into the rotation, in my opinion, but ultimately, this sucks for him and Iowa State. Because even if he wasn't going to play a major on-court role for Iowa State this fall, he would have had a year to practice, improve and get more refined working with the Cyclone staff. Now, that's not going to happen to its fullest capabilities because of the injury. Iowa State could look to make an addition to its roster, but that seems unlikely given 1. The time of the year, Iowa State has already been in practice for about a month 2. Any players still in the portal are there for a reason, and that probably indicates that Iowa State wouldn't be interested 3. If Iowa State were to make an addition, that player would have the same (if not more) complicated path to playing time for ISU
