Those teams may have won it all if i... show more In almost every year of the CFP, the 1 or 2 seed won it; 8/10 years. The other two year, the 4 seed won it. There was generally no controversies other than a year or two of who the Top 4 were going to be. And certainly never a year where anyone thought, nor made an argument for the 6-12 seeds to be worthy. It’s a participation playoff now. It’s lost some luster when you include Tulane and Hames Madison. No longer can coaches be judged on just getting to the CFP, it’s far easier. You can lose 2 games - now you can lose 5 and get in as Duke would have done this past year as conference champs.
