Very few faulted DeBoer for leaving for Washington, it was more the way he left, trying to poach our guys on the way out the door. Think even that is mostly water under the bridge now. I was a little surprised he got an extension after only barely squeaking into the CFP field. If they canned DeBoer, tho, there really aren’t a lot of better alternatives out there. Being rumored for the Michigan and Penn State jobs probably didn’t hurt his cause, either. You look around and see quite a few powerhouse P4’s making expensive flashy hires only to see them still not get to the top of the mountain and the process repeats. Perhaps the Alabama AD decided to take the slow and steady route. That said, if Bama doesn’t make the CFP this year, their fans and backers will be calling for both DeBoer and the AD to be chopped.
