I can remember sitting in the Band during Homecoming Week, and listening to Dale and his crew of Alumni Cheerleaders going through the Old Cheers. "Icky-Dickey" was never a favorite, and never caught on with us "younger" types... One memory pops up about Dale in particular: During the Homecoming game in '83, UH received a kickoff and returned it for a TD, accompanied by the groans of the few thousand Frog fans in attendance. A lone voice began to toll, "There is a flag! There is a flag!" Dale, ever full of hope, held the mic, and was pointing to the small but incriminating bit of laundry on the field. " There is a flag !" The TD was called back. We all hollered. The Frogs lost anyway.
