It doesn't make any sense.  The goal isn't to cannibalize. It's to best position for the CFP.  But what if 1 plays 4, 2 plays 3, 4 wins and now is the second best team, setting up a rematch? Or what if 1 loses to 4, 2 and 3 play each other close, and now 2 and 3 are the two best teams? All scenarios which makes it less likely anyone gets in the CFP, defeating the whole purpose. Plus, what if 1 & 4 both are scheduled to have home games? Bad idea.
