I dig him giving credit to the Gophers, and think it's valid to include Iowa and Illinonis in there, too. The Big Ten West was always looked at as the weakest division in college football, and still today the teams that were part of it have been overshadowed by the Blue Bloods and the new West Coast teams. However, teams from the Big Ten West actually represented the conference well. During the 10 year run, it had a 27-16 winning bowl record. In the last two seasons, the former Big Ten West teams went 7-2 in bowl games. I think he has a point when speaking about the strength of the conference as a whole.
