Assuming a total of $71M-ish from the lawsuit minus $5M for legal fees that leaves $66M to the pool. UNLV & AF get about $15M (24.5%) of the Level 1 ($61M) amount, and roughly $1M from the Level 2 balance of $5M. That's $16M of that $25M with, I'd assume, most of the rest (upfront bonus) coming from expansion fees from new members (approx $18M in total). Gloria's met her obligation to them, at least for now. Moving forward she's a) guaranteed that annual retention bonus ($1.5M-ish) & 2) $3.5M minimum from their TV contracts. She'll likely need to dig up some money (patches, sponsorships, PE), but should be fine. As for the rest, I think they & others have learned from the P12 & the LA schools. The P12s move to equal distribution ultimately killed the conference. Some programs are worth more. Survival is king. As long as they (NM, UBR, etc) are earning about what they did before they should be fine. Being guaranteed $3.5M in media payouts plus what they got from the Level 1 payouts should be close. Plus, with a few newbies not getting a full share yet, they get more for a yr or 2. I haven't heard if they shifted to more of a you eat what you earn model like the P12 (50% of CFP, NCAAT payouts) or not? If they do, that should help appease everyone as well. Bottom line - UNLV & AF should have the 5 yr resources to compete with the P12, but the rest?? That gap will grow larger annually which could, or should, drag UNLV & AF down with it from a competitive respect perspective. Gloria is playing the role of The Little Dutch Boy & is plugging the hole. But she doesn't have a village coming to her rescue (w/o PE or a major sponsor). PS. I am curious if there is something new in their GOR or the lawsuit agreement about leaving, now that a baseline exit fee of $10M has been established? PPS. Anyone else noticed how seve several of the loudmouth MWC social media accounts have been really quiet lately? Unless I've missed their posts. AFA has structural issues with competing beyond this arrangement. NIL and Transfers kills them. As for UNLV, their competitiveness depends on whether the University system requires them to pay back their debt to not. No doubt on AF. They'll compete well in all sports but the main rev sports.
