2026 TCU football preview: Could the cornerbacks be the most improved unit?​ Steven Johnson Cornerback play was a weakness for TCU last season, as the Horned Frogs finished 14th out of 16 Big 12 teams in passing defense. The unit routinely struggled to make plays in 50-50 ball situations and also gave up far too many first downs due to defensive pass interference or holding penalties. Were it not for the play of All-Big 12 safeties like Bud Clark and Jamel Johnson , TCU’s passing defense could’ve been worse.
