Fun discussion...this team certainly has the "potential" to compete for a conference championship this season, but we all know potential doesn't always translate to the football field. To me, this season comes down to 2 basic things. 1)...Nick Minicucci has to remain healthy. We lose him for any extended period of time and all bets are off. 2)...The defense MUST make some significant improvement as has been discussed repeatedly on gohens. We must improve our 3rd down efficiency and also limit the big/explosive plays that can often turn games upside down. And to state the obvious, the defense has to figure out a way to put more pressure on the opposing QB. If both of these things happen, I can definitely see 8 to 9 wins in the regular season with a chance to reach 9 or 10 with a conference championship and bowl win. If we lose Nick and/or the defense isn't improved, I can see 5 wins and a potential step back in Year 2 of FBS. Fingers crossed that the 2026 UD Football season is one for the memory books in a good way!!!
