Although NIL was not there before, I think the transfer portal has added a lot of intrigue to college football. The P4 schools have always had more money and access to greater resources. I still believe that the majority CFB players want to play (because its the necessary step to the NFL - most kid’s dream) - and there are only a few slots to play every year in the FBS. Assuming its true (players want to play), G6 schools will continue to be flooded with more talent from P4, ultimately improving the FBS in its entirety. Back in the day, P4 players who didn’t play across their 4-5 years, who could have played in the MAC, just didn’t play. That’s not happening any more. This was likely happening in the G schools too. The portal has enabled the best players to find a place to play across the FBS. Pretty awesome.
