The court ruling to let players like Wells and Patterson favors G6 programs because some of our older players are less likely to be gone to pro sports. They didn’t like it, the SEC commissioner made that clear, so schools/people with the money and power win again. Big $ schools didn't file this appeal. It was the NCAA and they have cases pending on all the State cases. G6 programs were in no way favored. Elite P4 programs have many more players in NFL camps, hence many more that will be cut. The issue, P4 teams truly don't need the players cut to return. They have far more talented depth and no need to upset current chemistry. With all the possible cases pending and no idea the outcome it makes zero sense for a HC to count on those type of players. Having our two deemed eligible and pretty much named starters was a "negative" in my mind. First, it undermines the trust with guys who have been there from day one. Second, it sent me the message that guys who weren't around and could start that our talent level wasn't what I hoped. I'll feel bad for our two, but our season prognisis didn't include them in the first place. And, the new 5 year decision was made and clearly was not meant to be retroactive no matter what some lawyers our courts may say. Move forward... next man up, it's almost game time.
