Narduzzi on Heintschel's growth, defensive end depth and more
Summary
- Pitt is managing Ja'Kyrian Turner's camp workload because his lead-back role is secure, using the extra snaps to evaluate the rest of the running-back room.
- The top defensive-end rotation was Jimmy Scott, Isaiah Neal, Jaeden Moore and Zach Crothers, with freshmen Reston Lehman and Josh Pittman leading the race for the fifth and sixth spots.
- Pitt has changed both personnel and run-game structure after last year's struggles, though Kade Bell will still lean on the passing game when it is working.
- Mason Heintschel is being asked to improve pre-snap communication and operate within structure while retaining the improvisation that drives Pitt's offensive upside.
