Georgia's backup-quarterback competition between Ryan Puglisi and Ryan Montgomery remains unsettled behind Gunner Stockton, with Kirby Smart saying the battle is not over and wanting more live evaluation before choosing the first backup.

Puglisi received substantial first-team work in the second scrimmage but struggled with turnovers; his edge is an extra year in the offense, while Montgomery offers more mobility.

Both backups are being stressed in two-minute and third-down periods. True freshman Bryson Beaver is also receiving developmental reps, but the early games against Tennessee State and Western Kentucky are the likely first chances to sort the backup order in live action.
