Miami enters game week ranked No. 7 in the preseason AP poll, with the article describing an offense expected to rank among the nation's most explosive and a defense returning many pieces from a top-five unit.

Transfer quarterback Darian Mensah is the centerpiece of Shannon Dawson's adaptable offense, with fall coverage emphasizing his chemistry with a deep group of weapons and the importance of restoring Miami's road production.

Miami rebuilt its offensive line around Matthew McCoy while also evaluating Samson Okunlola, Max Buchanan and freshman Ben Congdon, making line cohesion a central championship-level test for 2026.

The defensive outlook centers on resolving linebacker questions and replacing edge production with Damon Wilson, Marquise Lightfoot and Armondo Blount, while the secondary is presented as a potential national strength.
